the true purpose... The Storyteller's Throne (The Storyteller #1) by Jocelyn Bates

Published: May 14th, 2018

A science Fiction novel tangled in the psychology of being human and the vulnerability of an unconventional Love story

Grace was born a storyteller with a beautifully brilliant mind. Trauma twisted her reality into its own tale of darkness. Now, at eighteen, Grace has found herself on the shores of a shadow world created to heal a generation. A world whose purpose is to release our emotions from the bonds of youth.

But she is not alone. It's a world inhabited by others, those working on their own hearts and one other like herself. An amazing and yet afflicted empath and musician by the name of Kai that Grace feels inexplicably drawn to.

Will she be able to handle the suppressed memories of her youth? Accept the vulnerability necessary to explore her own heart and that of another? Fulfill the true purpose it seems she is destined to serve?

Come along with Grace as she learns to uncover her past, harness her gift, open her heart to love and embrace her future.

AUTHOR's Q&A

1. Do You See Writing as a Career?
I hope so! I really enjoy it and it gives me the time I need to do things for myself. It gives me a creative outlet that doesn’t require me to put away boxes of supplies after each time I sit down to create!

2. What was the Hardest Part of Your Writing Process?
One of the hardest parts of my writing process is sticking with it and trusting that what I’m creating is something worth reading. This holds especially true when I’m writing something that holds a piece of who I am within it. I question myself over and over again about what needs to be there, if it’s even interesting, etc

3. Did you have any One Person Who Helped You Out with Your Writing Outside of Your Family?
I have an accountability Partner through a class I’m taking that has been a huge help. Other than her, I have friends that I tap into when I need it and who keep me honest on the page.

4. What is next for your writing?
The next writing for me will be the second book in The Storyteller Series. I’m getting ready to write now and I’m pretty excited about it! I think the second book will be full of action and movement more so than the first book is.

5. Do you have an addiction to reading as well as writing? If so, what are you currently reading?
I love reading, but it’s rare that I can finish a book quickly. I homeschool 3 kids and often don’t have the time to read, because the spare 1/2 hour I get at night I tend to spend vegging out. Ha! I always have a book I’m working on, right now, I’m reading The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman.
