One Night with Molly: A Novella

Meet Shayla Jones, your typical Midwestern girl who, after moving to Palm Beach, is taken in by socialite, McKenzie Carmichael, for a night on the town that will forever change her life.

Shay knows her new friend is bad news, but she has to play nice if she wants to learn her way around and meet all the right people. Besides, she set out to let go of her good girl image, and that is exactly what she intends to do—with Jared.

When McKenzie ultimately strands Shay at an after-hours party, she knows she needs to cut ties with her new friend, but if she does, will she ever see Jared again?

Follow the adventure as Shay is faced with decisions that will challenge her morals as she slips into a night of drugs and passion, from blowing up in the club to coming down on the beach.

One Night with Molly will leave you breathless and begging for more.

MB's INTERVIEW

Our day romance literature becomes hotter and hotter. What differentiates the romance from erotic romance? What makes your writing different from all the other romance authors?
I think erotic romance tends to be a bit more edgy than the your typical romance, at least in my writing I find this to be true. In my opinion, an erotic romance falls somewhere between romance and erotica—incorporating the best of both worlds. But contrary to erotica, I think a good erotic romance should have more of a story line and build up with some sex, and erotica tends to have more sex than romance and often more hardcore sex than the erotic romance.

What are the three things to avoid in an erotic romance?
For me, I try to stick to vanilla sex, and avoid any hardcore sex or BDSM. I try not to overload with too much sex, and I try to keep the characters relatable and likeable. So I guess you could say I try to avoid sex overload, unrealistic characters, and sex that is just too erotic.

You were phone sex operator and bartender. Did you find out why erotica romance genre is read?
I spent six miserable hours as a phone sex operator and eighteen long years as a bartender. One thing I have learned for both of those experiences is that people want to be teased; we all love the build up and the chase. If a writer can incorporate that into his or her writing, they are surely going to build a loyal following of readers.

You have a playlist that inspired One Night with Molly. Can you, please, give us more details about this playlist and how it influenced your story?
This novella takes place over the course of an evening where Shay is taken out on the town by socialite, McKenzie. They go to a club and to an after-hour’s party, and at both places the music plays a very crucial role in setting the tone of the atmosphere. I tried to incorporate music that one would hear in a club or at an after-hour’s party, and listening to the playlist while I wrote helped me write the scenes where Shay was actually ‘feeling’ the music. It definitely helped me add imagery to the story.

Why a short story?
This is book 1 of a series. In the 2nd book, Shay’s morals are challenged even further, and the reader will be able to watch Shay change and evolve over the course of the series; however, I didn’t want to leave the typical cliffhanger at the end of book 1. Instead, I ended it in a way where the reader would feel satisfied even if he or she never moved on to read the rest of the series. I want readers to be interested in what comes next for Shay, but I wanted to be careful not to leave the reader frustrated while waiting for book 2, which by the way will be released in May!

About the author:
Renee Trofé spent most of her life as a 'Jane of all trades' before finally settling on her first true love ... writing. From phone sex operator to bartender, Renee has seen and heard it ALL. As an up and coming new adult author, her style is a bit more edgy, touching on a variety of real life topics ranging from drug use to irresponsible sex.

Her guilty pleasure is devouring new adult and erotica books, and her favorite pastime is spending her days on the beach with her kindle, downloading the latest sizzling best-seller, and daydreaming about the hot sex scenes which she will play out in the bedroom later.

She shares a home at the beach with her fiance which ultimately belongs to their weiner dog, Lola. Yep, it's Lola's world -- they are just living in it.

Reneé adores her life and wouldn't have it any other way.
