…except her.

Tara Sullivan is living a lie, one that was inbred in her from birth. Only change doesn’t come easy when murder, obsession…and Jackson Carrington are involved.

The sound of the waves and the steady gust of breeze pulled Tara from her thoughts and she searched for Vicious up ahead. The silly dog had run off the beach and was on the compounded sand patch leading beneath the pier. They’d walked too far, she thought with a frown and it was late and she should get back.

In seconds fear had laced its way up her spine, chilling the warm thoughts she’d been having about Jackson and their time together tonight. She walked faster, calling out to Vicious so they could hurry and turn back. But Vicious didn’t heed her calls. She could still see her but the dog was staring straight ahead as if it saw something that Tara did not. She broke into a run at that point, wanting to hurry back into the house and out of this ominous darkness.

Just as she was within reaching distance of Vicious, strong arms wrapped around her waist lifting her off her feet. She opened her mouth to scream but a hand clamped down over it. Fight or flight instinct kicked in immediately and she started to kick and squirm, and then she stopped.

His tongue licked along the line of her ear, dipping quickly inside while his thick erection pressed persistently into the crevice of her bottom. She closed her eyes and inhaled, and stayed still in his arms. How she knew it was Jackson or what he was doing out here, she would never know, but she didn’t dare move, especially after he whispered, “Keep still and keep quiet.”

The words could have been intimidating, or possibly deadly, considering the circumstances that had brought her to this place, but Tara felt none of the fear she’d known that night of the murder and subsequent nights after. No, at this moment all she felt was heat swirling up and throughout her body, melting her against him.
