MB's INTERVIEW
Thank you, Mrs.Lisa Beth Darling
What do you think about (and prefer): gore or psychological tension?
It's hard to have psychological tension without at least a tiny bit of gore to spur it on. When I write horror I try not to go for the gross-out, I'd rather honestly scare the living daylights out of someone but some things in life are very gross and disgusting, there's no getting around it so I just have to meet it head-on and hope for the best.

How detailed the horror scenes must be and how and when you decide is enough?
I like scenes of horror that would get a solid 'R' rating if they were a movie, never anything PG-13, I think that's a copout. It's hard to know when enough is enough especially with a character like 'Eddie' who's main driving force is simply that he's insane and therefore capable of anything.

Why do you think people read thriller and/or horror?
I think it's a safe environment for people to deal with their fears and to experience being scared without being in any actual danger. In their own way, they're adrenaline junkies just like a runner or race car driver. They may not be that bold but they get a rush out of reading a good thriller just as someone gets a rush out of pulling off a hairpin turn at 100mph.

How much research an author must do for a good horror?
It depends on the subject matter and how close to reality it is, if it isn't something based in reality like a rabid dog or a serial killer but rather a spirit or monster of some kind then one can just their imagination fly free. I've always been fascinated by serial killers and what makes them tick. I've read a lot about people like Richard Ramirez, Ted Bundy, and John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer. I'm especially fascinated by serial killers who keep their victims for a while and torture them. I know that sounds horrible! Trust me, I don't have any desire to kill anyone…most days J

How romance and horror go together?
Sort of like sex, when done right, they heighten each other's power and thereby the entire overall experience becomes hotter and scarier. With a horror/romance there isn't a single person that's in danger waiting on someone to come to their rescue the couple is in danger and both equally vulnerable to the killer.

In OBSESSION 'Eddie' watches 'Helen Makris', our heroine, relentlessly. He breaks into her home whenever he wants he stands at her bedside and watches her sleep. He stands outside her window and spies on her with her lover, 'Kevin Smith', as well. I think it's in private moments like that where we are most vulnerable, most open, and exposed, that makes them scary on their own to a certain degree. Introduce someone like 'Eddie' to the mix and it's downright terrifying.

About the author:
I'm 47 years-old and I've been married to wonderful and talented husband, Roy, for the last 27 years. Together we've raised two beautiful daughters to adulthood right here in my hometown of New London, CT.

Through my full-length novels and series I strive to bring conflict, passion, love, and suspense to unique couples--how about a Greek God and a Fey, a retiring military man and an aging widowed hippie, a famous writer/director and a lonely hitch-hiker, or a b-grade actor and a very lucky first-time author? Since I'm never one to shy away from the less pleasant things in life, indeed I believe that it is in the Darkness where Character is created, determined, and defined, my heroes and heroines have their love tested by demons from within and without.

ALL of my works are intended for a Mature Audience Only this includes most of my non-fiction books. They are intended for those who like their reading on the dark and gritty side. They are not intended for the faint of heart or those who enjoy a sweet read.

Totusi, cam ciudata cartea...
