one last chance - Damned Either Way (The Harker Trilogy, #3) by Erin Hayes

18+ "Oh WOW. This is the last book in the Harker Trilogy and has everything looking hopeless before building up slowly to pull the threads together into a dramatic finale that then leaves you feeling both relieved and heartbroken. I loved the story which was well written and everything was clear and easy to understand. I could feel all the emotions involved and was really routing for them to succeed in the story. The thrilling conclusion to The Harker Trilogy

I’m finally free of my family’s curse.
Except now, the world is ending. FML.

Anthony, the vampire that killed my sister and my brother-in-law, has won. I’ve lost everything. I no longer have my powers. I have no idea where Amelia is. And the vampire I love has surrendered to the hunger that is throwing the world into chaos.

The worst part? I can’t do anything about it, because I’m no longer the Harker. Sure, I’m not dying anymore, but I’m barely living at this point.

But there may be one last chance to save us all. If only I can find it in me to make one final sacrifice.

GUEST POST

It feels weird finally finishing up The Harker Trilogy. After all, it’s a story that I started while I was still in high school.

I've always written; I never haven't. In high school, while kids were out doing things I was at home writing this weird vampire book that I shared out chapters with friends on a weekly basis. This book had a ton of pop culture references (my main character’s name Willow, which came from Buffy, which influenced this book), you'll find some weird coincidences (Willow meets a vampire in her high school class - much like in Twilight, but remember, this was written in 2003!), hug plot issues, holes, cardboard characters, and everything else that can hinder a book.

Themes from this vampire book have popped up in later books, and I've borrowed ideas from it to create a better story in my other novels. I'd always planned on re-writing it and making it better.

So when I sat down to tell Edie’s story back in 2015—a full twelve years after I started this story about vampires and the end of the world—I knew that I had to make it the best I possibly could.

Characters aren’t the same. The plot isn't the same. But the bones of it are there.

This third book isn’t good-bye for these characters. It’s more of, “Look how much you’ve grown!” I’m a proud author.

I hope you enjoy Edie’s and Jude’s story as much as I do. And if you’re curious to see where it came from, read the unedited original story at: https://www.wattpad.com/story/19918074-damned-if-i-do-the-original-story
