the whole world changes - Steal the Stars by Mac Rogers, Nat Cassidy
"This is slightly more romantic in nature than I really expected it to be, but I'll tell you what -- I loaded this thing up on a four hour driving trip, and my husband, who isn't really into my fiction podcasts, kept asking for the next one. We listened to all five episodes we were provided in one sitting, and I'm dying to listen to the rest of them now. "- Amanda, Goodreads

Excerpt and Giveaway: Rush (The Game #1) by Eve Silver
So what’s the game now? This, or the life I used to know?
When Miki Jones is pulled from her life, pulled through time and space into some kind of game—her carefully controlled life spirals into chaos. In the game, she and a team of other teens are sent on missions to eliminate the Drau, terrifying and beautiful alien creatures.
There are no practice runs, no training, and no way out. Miki has only the guidance of secretive but maddeningly attractive team leader Jackson Tate, who says the game isn’t really a game, that what Miki and her new teammates do now determines their survival, and the survival of every other person on this planet. She laughs. He doesn’t. And then the game takes a deadly and terrifying turn.
EXCERPT
Color and sound explode, too bright, too loud. Even the air on my skin feels like it’s too much. My fingers go lax. The bag’s handle slides down my palm, then along my fingers to the tips, impossibly slow. The world tips and tilts and I flail for balance.
Luka grabs my hand and holds tight.
I blink. My house, my open front door, Dad, they’re all gone. My breath comes in short gasps and every muscle in my body feels like it’s knotted up tight.
I’m standing in a grassy clearing bounded by trees.
The lobby.
We’ve been pulled.
This is a really unique debut from Eve Silver. I haven't read anything where aliens are all the bad guys, and I do hope to find out more about the Drau in the upcoming sequel. The style of the game intrigued me, with its whole LARP-like quality. That's live action role playing, in case you didn't know. I definitely didn't until just a few weeks ago! I loved playing RPGs (role playing games) as a kid, and the incorporation of that in Rush made me all nostalgic. Weapons, health points, healing... All of it. I loved that part. There's a good amount of action in this book, as well as plot twists and of course some romance. It's paced perfectly, and there was never a dull moment. I'd recommend Rush to all you sci-fi lovers or gamers, because this is definitely your kind of book. - Goodreads
I recommend Rush to readers who love a multi-racial protagonist (yes, yes, yes!) with a tough don't-walk-all-over-me attitude, creepy aliens with disturbing plans for Earth, action galore, spicy romance, and conclusions that will break your heart.
Rush is the embodiment of its title: exciting, addicting, and unputdownable. Not to mention the fact that Silver's characters experience many rushes of emotion while on assignments, and while growing into the characters they will become by the end of the novel. - Goodreads

Happy Re-Release Day! Giveaway Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout
Description:
Beginnings:
Now available together for the first time, don't miss Obsidian and Onyx, the first two books in Jennifer L. Armentrout's bestselling Lux series. Also includes bonus content exclusive to the print edition!
"A thrilling ride from start to finish," says RT Book Reviews.
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don’t kill him first, that is.
Now available together for the first time, don't miss Opal and Origin, the third and fourth books in Jennifer L. Armentrout's bestselling Lux series. Also includes bonus content exclusive to the print edition!
"A thrilling ride from start to finish," says RT Book Reviews.
No one is like Daemon Black.
When he set out to prove his feelings for me, he wasn’t fooling around. Doubting him isn’t something I’ll do again, and now that we’ve made it through the rough patches, well... There’s a lot of spontaneous combustion going on.
But even he can’t protect his family from the danger of trying to free those they love.
After everything, I’m no longer the same Katy. I’m different... And I’m not sure what that will mean in the end. When each step we take in discovering the truth puts us in the path of the secret organization responsible for torturing and testing hybrids, the more I realize there is no end to what I’m capable. The death of someone close still lingers, help comes from the most unlikely source, and friends will become the deadliest of enemies, but we won’t turn back. Even if the outcome will shatter our worlds forever.
Together we’re stronger...and they know it.
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.
She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.
They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

Happy Release Day! Trapped (Here Trilogy #2) by Ella James
Contains mild spoilers if you haven’t read Here, the first book in the trilogy.
When Milo Mitchell falls for the beautiful, tuxedo-clad guy she found wandering her family’s rural Colorado property, she never dreamed he was a scout from another galaxy, or that their relationship would leave him with an impossible choice: eradicating humankind, or initiating the end of his own people.
Nick’s job is finding the elements his people need to power their elaborate interweb of minds. Being a scout means he is capable of traveling to other planets on his own. It also means that, unlike The Rest, he has access to primitive feelings and individual desires. For eons, he was part of the whole, but when he encountered Milo, his obsession with her changed everything.
Nick’s partner, Vera, is capable of independent thought, but not compelled by it. She is satisfied with her existence as one of The Rest, and she won’t agree that humans are worth sparing; not when their planet has a precious cache of the gold her people need so badly.
While Vera tries to force Nick into endorsing an Earth invasion, working behind the scenes to tie his hands, and the Department of Defense lays a trap for them with Milo’s mom as bait, Nick and Milo are waging their own war – against a primal desire that can only lead to one thing: heartbreak.

GUEST POST
I’ve alway been a literature fanatic and have a degree in English to prove it. But pesty jobs and paying bills got in the way of my creative time, so it wasn’t until my thirties before I really could sit down and write seriously. I tried my hand at screenwriting and loved it, but when I began to discover the world of young adult fiction, I knew I found my calling to write novels.
About six years ago, I was involved with a local youth group. We were studying Diary of a Teenage Girl by Melody Carlson. The girls in the group also introduced me to the Twilight series. They were pretty early to jump on the twi-hard bandwagon since Stephenie Meyer is practically our neighbor. I know YA fans have varying opinions on this series, but hate it or love it, she pushed me to get going on my own series. Something about her living only miles away from me was truly inspirational.
I’m first to admit I’m a sucker for fantasy and romance. I knew my books would have to incorporate these elements because that’s what I like to read. I’m also currently obsessed with the idea of alternate worlds. Like what would happen if you could change your life to what you think you want it to be. And then, finally, there’s Sedona. A place so unique and amazing, it’s hard to describe. Lucky for me I only live 45 minutes away from this special city.
Sedona is known for its vortexes. I mean, come on. Vortexes? Mysterious supernatural energy? This place was just begging to be the center of a fantasy series. So, The Vortex Series (Rematch and Double Fault with Deuce to be released this fall), is the accumulation of all the above things. I really hope readers will enjoy reading them as much as I loved writing them. As far as my dream cast for The Vortex Series, an eighteen-year-old Johnny Depp would be the perfect specimen. That dark, wavy hair, depthless brown eyes, and that jaw line! I can’t think of one teenage actor today who could do Trent justice like a young Depp. For Cassie, it would be Mary Ashleigh Green. She needs to be athletic, physically strong, have caramel-colored long hair and have unforgettable, piercing green eyes.
About the author:
Janine Caldwell was born in Concord, CA and raised in the small San Francisco Bay Area town of Clayton. Four days after her high school graduation, Janine attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and graduated with a degree in English.

With relatives like the Brothers Grimm and Anita Loos (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes), she figured fantasy writing had to be in her DNA.
Books published by Janine include Visited, a YA coming-of-age fantasy, Rematch and Double Fault—the first two books of The Vortex Series. The final book in this YA fantasy romance, Deuce, will be released fall 2013.

Review and Giveaway Fields of Elysium (Fields of Elysium, #1) by A.B.Whelan
„But if young hearts didn’t believe in miracles anymore, then all is lost.”
If you have a romantic nature and an imagination that carries you through fantasy worlds then you will like Fields of Elysium.
If you are not, there
are still big chances that you'll like the book. This is because you will
like for sure the main characters,
the author’s ideas and style.
The main characters grow on the
reader's heart as they and also the story
evolve. Molly is
a great example for all young
girls and was a pleasure to
watch her thoughts and judgment. Victor? Victor
tries to find out how he feels and what to do. Being
the type for whom duty and
honor are above of
all it will be even harder to him to make a decision. He certainly has all the trumps to become the readers' new favorite.
„He was a thrilling, mystical novel I found hard to put down, or better, impossible not to finish.”
Secondary characters could have been more developed. Agreeable
or not, I certainly wanted to
know more about why and how
they change. Weston, for example,
on the one hand can be considered at one point to be a bit superficial and I think that was not the intention, and on the other hand I think it should be worth it to witness how he will get "to see
the forest despite the trees." Other characters
seem hasty introduced
and a greater motivation for them
would have been welcome.
The plot is a love story. The story earns more points by sharing Molly’s thoughts
and feelings which is the way used by the author
to gently introduce many important aspects of human nature, religion, about how children are
influenced by their parents, about
their changes: caring,
growing up - leaving
the nest. I think
every youngster goes (or should it go?) through
them.
„But as my love for Victor had grown, I noticed how I’d become emotionally detached from my father. Maybe there was not enough room in my heart for them both.”
Do not worry, though I would have preferred a stronger
development of these ideas, the way they are presented is enough to touch the reader's mind and to keep the story as a love one. Reaching to the romance I’ll only say that you’ll love it. It reminded me of
Pride and Prejudice - keeping and given the
obvious differences. Love for a person who hates you will surely arouse the
reader's feelings. Did someone say
that it's easy to
love?
“My mind kept fighting against my heart because from the very first moment I saw you, I knew that you would be the one to destroy me.” “I would never hurt you.” “You’re hurting me right now without knowing it.”
The author certainly had inspiration and talent when
she describes Arkana’s universe,
a fantasy world where both mythological elements and high tech items are
harmonious found. Her style is
not fussy, but it is very picturesque. For me it was very
easy not only to imagine that
fantasy world, but to see myself "out
there". It's wonderful,
a true description of the Elysian Fields
("Heaven" in Greek mythology)
where there is no malice or violence and pure
souls remain to
delight.
Although this volume is focused on the relationship between Molly and Victor,
the author has been careful to keep
reader’s attention on the problems
that the two worlds are facing. So
I have every reason to expect that the next volumes
will change the tone. Sides will be chosen,
sacrifices will be made, the characters that are now barely sketched
will influence the course of events
and all of these are make me very curious. I just
hope that the announced release date
for the second volume will be indeed August
2013.
„Could it be that he felt sorry for me after all? Or that his hostile attitude was really a cover up, designed to protect me? I pondered over my wishful thinking, but when his black eyes locked on mine again, all positive thoughts had vaporized. There was no question about it; Victor detested me beyond my wildest imagining.”
I received the book for review as part of Book Tour - Thank you!
Romanian
Dacă sunteți o fire
romantică a cărei imaginație o poartă prin lumi fantastice clar veți găsi Fields
of Elysium pe gustul vostru.
„He was a thrilling, mystical novel I found hard to put down, or better, impossible not to finish.”
Personajele
„But as my love for Victor had grown, I noticed how I’d become emotionally detached from my father. Maybe there was not enough room in my heart for them both.”
A zis cineva că
a iubi e uşor?
“My mind kept fighting against my heart because from the very first moment I saw you, I knew that you would be the one to destroy me.” “I would never hurt you.” “You’re hurting me right now without knowing it.”
trebui alese, sacrificii vor trebui făcute, personaje abia creionate acum vor
„Could it be that he felt sorry for me after all? Or that his hostile attitude was really a cover up, designed to protect me? I pondered over my wishful thinking, but when his black eyes locked on mine again, all positive thoughts had vaporized. There was no question about it; Victor detested me beyond my wildest imagining.”
Description:How can love mend a heart full of hate? Small town girl, Molly Bennett, moves to Los Angeles where she becomes an outsider while attending Beverly Hills High School. It seems life cannot be any more dreadful. Then one day after school, something magical happens. On a secluded hike in the Hollywood Hills, Molly chases her disobedient mutt and only friend into a hidden cavern. She stumbles upon a strange glimmering gateway that transports her to Arkana, a planet that is the cradle of an advanced human race. There, teenagers navigate amazing flying vehicles, compete in perilous games for glory, and possess supernatural powers. While Molly tries to wrap her mind around this unbelievable discovery, she meets the alluring and mysterious Victor Sorren. He is a Sentinel Apprentice, whose hatred toward people from Earth is beyond understanding. Yet every time Victor unpredictably saves Molly's life, his heart draws closer to hers, no matter how much he tries to fight against it. It further complicates things that their growing friendship is strictly forbidden. Earth people are prohibited in Arkana, yet Molly continues to cross through the portal to Arkana to see Victor. Torn between their double lives, they go down a dangerous path, from where there is no return and multiple endings. Fields of Elysium is a suspenseful, romantic tale full of forbidden secrets, unimaginable danger, deception, and the never-ending fight for true love.

Review - Trust by David Moody

Trust
After the excellent series Autumn where the subject was the struggle for survival in a world of zombie apocalypse, this time the writer puts us in front of the another subject, alien invasion who is as dramatic and terrifying as the first.
The author’s approach is new and interesting, but can't lead to a happy ending. In the series Autumn the hope was what carry the survivors to redemption, here Moody opened the Pandora's box and dust everything. We have nothing left, not even the poor hope. It is a truly dystopian novel with a dramatic end. The story’s hero will ultimately have an outburst of pride to oppose, but nothing can be done only by yourself, but to show that some of us may choose dignity.
Don’t hesitate to read the novel, is worth it! It
will raise some issues about who we are and where we are going.
Happy reading!

After the excellent series Autumn where the subject was the struggle for survival in a world of zombie apocalypse, this time the writer puts us in front of the another subject, alien invasion who is as dramatic and terrifying as the first.
The difference is made by the
approach of the threat faced by people. If the Living Dead survivors were faced
with a fait accompli and everything it comes down to a struggle, here we are
dealing with a passive attitude and confidence in the celestial visitors. Although
there are individuals who are apprehensive about this close encounters third
grade (requires contact with the occupants of a space vehicle) as is the hero
of this book, most of humanity believes that this is an opportunity not to be
missed in our development.
The author presents humanity from a
different perspective. The perspective of the unresponsiveness and confidence, that in fact, is not characteristic to us. In
us still vibrates the fears and the anxieties of the primitive man. Even if
passed tens of thousands of years since man Cro-Magnon
come out from caves and with the all culture and civilization that we hold, the
first impulse that we have when we meet the unknown is to get a bat. A bat more
technologically improved now, but still the violence is our own characteristic
however educated we are, but why do not recognize, that maybe, the violence assured
us as a species on this planet. The Wild West adage "shoot first and ask after"
hand us all. This is the idea which opposes the attitude and behavior of novel
characters.
The author’s approach is new and interesting, but can't lead to a happy ending. Regarding the progress of the case I
noticed that many have complained a bit about the heavy construction and the delays
of the events. I personally think that the author wanted to highlight in this
way the atypical behavior of people. It is not a Hollywood movie and we are not
faced with films such as Independence Day
or Battleship . There were also
complaints about the lack of character development. I do not know why it was
necessary when conducting already seemed a little slow. In my opinion, the key
character of the book it is actually our personality with its two sides.
Happy reading!

In a
post-apocalyptic world controlled by alien invaders, two teens and a

they find will change everything...
Earth has been conquered. An extraterrestrial race known as The Assembly has abducted the adult population, leaving the planet’s youth to fend for themselves. Midnight City is the breathtaking first novel in the Conquered Earth series, and a stunning work of imagination from debut author J. Barton Mitchell.

debutant J. Barton Mitchell.
Cartea va aparea in 30 octombrie 2012.

Parerea mea: Puterea celor sase de Pittacus Lore
Parerea mea:
