“You don’t have to cry about him anymore.” - The Missing (Birthright #2) by Necole Ryse

Detective Douglas picked up speed and fell into step beside me. “I’m not violating any of your rights, sweetie.” He reeked of stale cigarette smoke. His hair peeked from under his hat, falling into his eyes. He brushed the curls away, but they stubbornly fell back into place. He couldn’t have been making any progress in the investigation if he was still questioning me.

Description:

Reeling from her boyfriend's disappearance, Raevyn Jones is shocked to learn that she is considered suspect number one. To make matters worse, rumors are swirling that golden boy, Jeffrey Donnelly, isn't just missing...he may never be coming back.

And Raevyn is being framed.

Her second semester at Benjamin Wallace Fitzgerald University, the nation's first Ivy League institution for African Americans, is full of twists and turns.

Soon Raevyn will learn not to trust anyone, not even the people she calls friend.
EXCERPT

“C’mere,” Brandon said. And when he reached for me, I felt myself stagger into his body. He was soft, but solid. His body was unfamiliar, stronger, much stronger than Jeffrey’s. Jeffrey. Was it possible to miss someone so much it hurt?

Brandon wrapped his arms around me and I felt his fleshy lips land on my forehead, soft and gentle like falling into a pillow.

I didn’t realize I was crying until I heard a sob fill the empty hallway. He brought his finger to my chin, exactly how Jeffrey used to. My stomach stirred. My heart stumbled out of my chest, landing in a broken clump on the carpet. Carefully, he brought his face closer to mine like if he handled me any differently I’d break apart. His breath danced on my lips when he said, “You don’t have to cry about him anymore.”

I always love a good mystery, and one where the main character is being framed always makes it that much more intriguing. It sounds action packed!
