Murder, fun? Yeah! - A Ghostly Reunion (Ghostly Southern Mysteries #5) by Tonya Kappes

"This book is best read in the order of the series so that characters are established and the reader has the background to understand little quips made throughout the book. It was a good mystery, and I am glad I read it. I highly recommend this series from start to the end of this book. I also hope the series continues, because Ms Kappe sure slipped in a humdinger in the end of the book! I can't wait to see what happens next."- Barbara, Goodreads

Emma Lee Raines sees dead people.

As if that “gift” will impress classmates at her upcoming ten-year high school reunion in Sleepy Hollow, Kentucky. Proprietor of the Eternal Slumber Funeral Home, Emma Lee can see, hear, and talk to ghosts of murdered folks. And when her high school nemesis is found dead, Jade Lee Peel is the same old mean girl—trying to come between Emma Lee and her hot boyfriend, Sheriff Jack Henry Ross, all over again.

There’s only one way for Emma Lee to be free of the trash-talking ghost—solve the murder so the former prom queen can cross over.

But the last thing Jade Lee wants is to leave town where she had her glory days. And the more Emma Lee investigates on her own, the more complicated Miss Popularity turns out to be. Now Emma Lee will have to work extra closely with her hunky lawman to get to the twisty truth.

GUEST POST
What is a Southern Mystery?

Southern mysteries are so much fun. Murder, fun? Yeah!

Southern mysteries pretty much take place south of the Mason Dixon line in a small town. These towns are full of cozy shops, quirky characters, clichés, and a lot of red herrings to keep you turning the page.

Have you ever been to a quaint town where everyone waves and greets everyone? Why do you think Stars Hollow from the popular Gilmore Girls series is so popular? What about those small town citizens?

There is nothing better than a quirky character in a southern mystery. She’ll bless your heart, fry it up in a skillet, and serve it to you on a piece of fine China with a glass of the sweetest iced tea to wash it down. These characters make you feel at home. You get to know these characters so intimately that when you pick up a southern mystery in their series, you actually feel like you’ve just pulled up a chair to sit for a spell for a visit.

These characters are also charming. You can’t help but laugh when you hear one of them say a cliché that you might not have heard. He’s tighter than bark on a tree. He’s as handy as a pocket on a shirt. These are only a couple of phrases you might come across that will put a smile on your face as you try to solve the crime before the author reveals.

Red herrings or clues to solve the southern mystery isn’t like your regular mystery. Southern mystery characters have all sorts of place over yonder and down the way that will have you on a goose chase to solve the crime.

If y’all like charming, funny, good home cooking, small towns, and a good snuggle in a cozy quilt with a dose of murder, be sure to pick up one of the books in my Southern Ghostly Mystery Series.
