How Do You Keep Your Writing Different
It’s easy for us to be different from other author’s, because we have two different minds that have the same focal point destination. We each have a different writing style, and we end up combining them into one.
Both of us see different points of view and that is where a lot of our writing comes from. We each write a chapter and then the other one goes over it. For example: After Leigh is done writing a chapter then she would send it to Melai and Melai would not only edit it, but put in what she thinks might be missing. It’s also possible that during this time, Melai could come up with a completely different idea than want we had planned. This is usually the time where Melai would call Leigh to talk about her idea and then move forward from there.
And that is how we combine both of our writing styles.
But before we ever start writing a book, we do a lot of brainstorming. We plan out how exactly the book is going to go and make an outline for ourselves. If in the case above that we have a new idea, then we adjust the remaining chapters, if needed.
With that process we also avoid writer’s block. Whenever one of us gets stuck, we usually call the other and talk it out. They could have a completely different vision than the other and that is how we push through it.
It’s safe to say that we communication A LOT!
So not only do we have to keep our writing style different from other author’s, but we also have to take our two writing styles and combine it into one. So all in all it actually works out for us, because with us combining both of our writing styles it actually differentiates us from other authors. Win-Win.
