a truth that she kept locked away - Diamond Road by Ginger K. King

From Amazon: "Oh, my. I am impressed. This book absolutely sparks. It's a can't-wait-to-finish item with an "i can't wait to find out more" ending. It's alive with suspense's best features. A must-read for suspense thrill seekers! "

Description:

In this intriguing debut novel—a journey that reveals how memories shape our lives and connect or separate us from others- Jamie, a young woman ascending from an oppressive relationship embarks on a desperate quest to escape. However her refuge is to return to the home she despised and left in the dust years before. Only her childhood journal and the family who raised her, can guide her search for answers to questions from decades ago that have molded her choices and left her with the stinging consequences she now must face.

As vivid memories of a tragedy that cost her both parents, come flooding back, Jamie discovers a truth that she kept locked away - something only she knows about the night they both died. Could re-living the memories that have shaped her life and relationships be the key to finding real, lasting happiness? What else may it bring to her door?

Back cover review- King Captures more than loving in difficult situations in Diamond Road. She touches a responsive nerve that echoes realistically the emotional/physical abuse, estrangement, and faith her characters experience as they connect with one another. You will love the unexpected twists, disappointments, and joys on this journey beginning with the bolt of action on page one!” pm terrell ~ internationally award winning author

EXCERPT

Apparently the delay wasn't long enough to reign her rage in, because when she heard the words come out of her own mouth, she didn't believe she had actually said the exact thing she was thinking.

"Thayer, the last time I checked, I was a free woman, and I will go tomorrow, they are counting on me. I will not let them down. It's Toronto for a day and only a few hundred miles from you." She saw him gritting his teeth and his knuckles were now fully white in their grip on the wheel.

"Jamie, you are not going and that is final. Of course you are free..."

She broke in, "Free to be followed like a fugitive about to commit some heinous crime, and in need of apprehension by your cops."

Jamie had finally reached it, the last straw. She could finally see a future of happiness lain out in front of her over the last few weeks, and freedom rested on the trip tomorrow. She lost all control and began unbuckling her seat belt and screaming at Thayer. Nothing else was in her mind but her blind hatred of him in this moment.

"Fuck this... Thayer, Fuck you! I'm done. I don't give a damn what you say or what you do from now on. You don't own me anymore than you rightfully own your shares of TLC!"

With that Thayer hit the wall of his threshold. The car sped up drastically and he shot between lanes as if driving at Indy. She was now sloshing about the seat loose from the protection of her seat belt. In that moment, something kicked in with her, and thinking of making him this mad was not worth it. She began to try and calm down and regain her own sense of self preservation.
