Review Vampires Romance to Rippers an Anthology of Tasty Stories, #1

REVIEW:

Vampires ... No matter that are still some people who say that the subject is for girlies and youths, for the ones without other loftier preoccupations, it cannot be denied that people were fascinated by the existence of these supernatural beings not only from the ancient times, but from the whole surface of the earth, and the scientific discoveries have not diminished it at all. Maybe is about the eternal life (immortality?), or the power over others, sensuality till paroxysm, or just the unknown of everything that is hidden in the night? From personalities and artists that you cannot deny their value and knowledge to the devourers of commercial literature, we are all somehow drawn to this mystery.

For those who have not yet discovered the crimson taste of the myth, Vampire Romance to Rippers comes to meet them.

The anthology was well thought out and organized. It begins with an essay that will give to both, beginners and versatile readers of Urban Fantasy, benchmarks regarding the vampire literary approaches, but also provides some (very briefly, but no less welcome) information about the earliest historical mentions of the myth.

The following texts come to exemplify those said in the first work. Benefiting by the works of some known and awarded authors, but also of some younger (literary age) ones, you will get a glimpse of the vampire in its various classical and modern states. The variety of the typologies, the vampire in love, the misfit, the beast, but also the punisher, the tormented or satisfied with what it became, the one in the change phase that vampirism involves, offers great chances for every reader to find something for his taste. You’ll not miss the passion, the despair, nor the massacre, the blood in waves, the good intentions or redemption. It is something for everyone, even poetry.

Featuring short stories or excerpts from novels or larger works, the anthology is able to fulfill its purpose: to spell you and drag you into the dark (or not so much) world of vampires.

Description:

Vampires! Sixteen authors give you a glimpse into the dark worlds of lost love, murderous rage, and undeniable sex appeal where deadly quests and blood lust spanning centuries of time reign supreme. Explore some of the most unique vampires to exist on this side of the grave.

Essays, excerpts, and short stories from award winning authors Karen Dales, Kurt Kamm, Bertena Varney and more. They will entertain you, thrill you, and bewilder you as they reveal the dark secrets of the most beloved creatures of the night, including eleven times bestselling author Terri Reid, creator of the Mary O’Reilly Series.

So, which will it be: the romantic vampire, the revenant vampire, the elemental, the fanged vampire, or the mythological female vampire? Begin reading and find out.

I like all sorts of vampires, Bertena. Good, evil, sexy, monstrous, etc. I think it depends on the story. But I'm drawn to writing stories where this was once a human being whose life is instantly transformed into something wildly different and how he or she has to deal with that. Whether it be giving up their old lives or trying to keep their old lives and function as their new selves in their old world. What would you do? How do you reconcile who you are with what you've become? Or do you?
