Come out, come out, wherever you are... Hidden (Tales of Ryca #1) by Shereen Vedam

"This is a story of honour, love and light conquering all.
I was hooked from the first page. The writing is crisp and clear, the characters intriguing and the story addictive."

Come out, come out, wherever you are...

A fugitive from an evil sorcerer, GILLY hides among shadows, tortured by memories of the family she lost. Her twisted leg is both a hindrance and a reminder of her tragic past. For twenty-three years, she disguises herself as an eccentric goat herder and lives alone at the edge of an idyllic village. Who would notice her here?

From a distance, she keeps a maternal eye on her only remaining sister, ANNA. But in a moment of crisis, her fantasy of safety is shattered. Her use of magic lifts the veil and now she and Anna must flee again. The evil sorcerer, and the malevolent King he serves, are on their scent.

A perilous journey across unknown terrain with family, friends and strangers, leads Gilly and Anna back to the beginning. To discover hidden secrets, earn forgiveness for past discretions and perhaps even find enduring love. If they manage to stay alive long enough.

GUEST POST
What is the Perfect Witch Character?

Thank you for having me over at Mythical Books. It’s a pleasure to be here and a joy to speak about a topic I love delving into. Witches.

February 2018
The book I’m here to promote is Hidden, which has a heroine, Gilly, who can lay wards and dismantle spells. She can “see” magic around her. She would certainly be feared as being a “witch” if anyone found out what she’s really capable of doing. Especially in a land where the king has banned the practice of magic.

But is Gilly really a witch? Could be. Or she could be a sorceress. A magician. An enchantress. They’re all labels for people who do extraordinary things. However, being a witch is more than having the ability to cast a spell. More than being a seductive, elusive, bewitching beauty with a mystical past. Even more than being able to fly on a broomstick, though that might be pretty cool.

To be a perfect witch character, this woman has to have a sixth sense about the world she lives in. She is someone who truly understands there’s more to life than what we all see, taste, hear, smell and touch. She is intimately in touch with her natural world and rarely believes in coincidences. She honors all the gifts she has been blessed with. She makes no apologies for who and what she is. In other words, a perfect witch character is someone we should all strive to emulate. For she (or he) is the best part of who we can be…our real self.
