Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

I will be the one to lose…Bound by Steel by Connie Lafortune

"[S]tarted it and finished it in one (very long) sitting with hand on my chest gasping as I flipped the pages! This book is AWESOME! What struck me from the first page was the characterization; [...] when I thought I had an understanding of what was happening, she completely blew me out of the water, and not just once, it happened again and again. Wild read--LOVED it!" - Ravenna, Goodreads

Description:

Lyra Harper
I was driving home to spend the holidays with my family.
But I lost control of my vehicle on an icy mountain road.
I slammed into a tree on the edge of Lake Lucerne.
I barely remember writing my name on the frosted windowpane.
The darkness had swallowed me whole.
I spiraled toward oblivion.
When I awoke from the gloom
I found myself in an old log cabin
With the devil’s eyes piercing fiercely into mine.

Ryker Steel
Up until four days ago, my life was tedious and tiresome.
Until, I rescued a dainty girl with golden hair and hazel eyes.
She looks just like the one I’m trying to forget.
Now my life has turned upside down and inside out.
You see, I inadvertently revealed my true identity.
Now, she can never leave.
We will live in hell, until we take our last breaths, together.
Lyra was the one who insisted on playing the game.
But I have a gut feeling, I will be the one to lose…

AUTHOR'S Answers

What is something unique/quirky about you?
Well, I have a crazy sense of humor and I'm quick witted. I'll have a snarky comeback before you get the last words out of your mouth. Nothing hurtful or spiteful, that's not how I roll. I love to sing and dance *even at work* which gets me in hot water from time to time but that's just who I am. I always see the glass as half full and look at the world with rose colored glasses. I just try to live life to the best of my ability, enjoying every little moment because you can't hit delete and begin again.

Tell us something really interesting that's happened to you!
Well, many years ago I was at the grocery store when a young girl started chocking. I still get chills when I recall her mother screaming for help. Everyone turned around to gawk but no one went to her rescue. Now mind you, I've never had any formal training just what I was taught in school. So, I raced over there, made a fist and began giving her abdominal thrusts, better known as the Heimlich. Within seconds, a chunk of lollipop that was wedged inside of her throat popped out. The mother couldn't thank me enough and I had my five minutes of fame.

What are some of your pet peeves?
My number one pet peeve is do not make promises you can't keep. Here are a few others in no particular order: lying, eye-rolling, invading my personal space.

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?
Wow, this question is very difficult for me because I've read so many good books in my lifetime. So, I guess I'll have to pick the ones I'd read over and over again. The ones that gave me all the feels... Here they are in no particular order. 1) Hopeless by Colleen Hoover 2) Destroyed by Pepper Winters 3) Don't Hold Back by Missy Johnson 4) Eighteen by J. A. Huss 5) Amour, Amour by Krista and Becca Ritchie 6) Find You in the Dark Series by A. Meredith Walters 7) The Fixed Trilogy by Laurelin Paige 8) Unraveling You Series by Jessica Sorensen 9) Inside Out Series by Lisa Renee Jones 10) Gypsy Brothers Series by Lili St. Germain.

What inspired you to write this book?
Bound by Steel actually started with a dream I had one night. Normally, I don't remember them once I've woken up but this one was vivid and lifelike. So I quickly jotted everything down, made an outline and allowed my characters to create their own story.

What can we expect from you in the future?
Well, I'm diligently working on my fourth book which should be completed by September of this year. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a late September early October release. It will be another romantic suspense with tons of heat from Zane and Lilianna, who are the two main characters in this one. Stay tuned for teasers and snippets which I will post on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?
I do and I'm diligently working on my Newsletter so I can give them away as freebies to all of my subscribers. As of right now, you can subscribe on my website but it will only let you know of my latest post. I'm hoping to have the Newsletter up and running by the end of the month so check back for freebies, giveaways and my latest news.

Where were you born/grew up at?
I was born and raised in a small town in Northeastern Connecticut. Where I went to school, got married and raised my family.

If you knew you'd die tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?
At the beach surrounded by my family and friends. Celebrating life and soaking up every precious minute with the ones I love.

Who is your hero and why?
To anyone who follows their dreams. It doesn't matter whether they're successful or not as long as they never give up. That's what real hero's are made of.

What book do you think everyone should read?
Without a second thought, it would be Black Beauty. I chose this book because there are important lessons to be learned hidden inside of these pages. Not only about the health and well being of our animals but how we should treat one another. With kindness, sympathy and respect. This is a must read for young and old alike.

What kind of world ruler would you be?
Truthfully, I'd be terrible! I have too many voices inside of my head, telling me what to do and say at any given moment. How could I rule the world when I have so many characters wanting to escape? I think it's best for everyone, if I just continue writing..
