Something witchy this way comes.
Kindergarten-teacher-slash-sorceress Ivie McKie has officially sworn off magic. With her father back from the dead—just in time for her upcoming wedding to sexy former magician Jackson Blake—Ivie has plotted a course straight to happily-ever-after-ville. And she won’t let anything get in her way this time.
But Daddy Dearest has something sneaky up his sleeve. When “just one more spell” goes horribly wrong and detours her into the path of her father’s dangerously hot new apprentice, Ivie has to scramble to get the magic… and her love life… back on track.
Along the way, she encounters a promise made before she was born, a clan of Scottish sorcerers in kilts, and yet another goat.
Suddenly Spellbound is a new madcap adventure featuring Ivie McKie from Suddenly Sorceress.
GUEST POST
Brrr…it’s colder than a witch’s… uh… you know, out there. And trust me. I know. Not only do I write about witches, but I have a few of them dangling from the branches in my family tree. If only I could conjure up some warmer weather. I’m literally freezing—I had to leave the water running so the pipes don’t ice over. And to make matters worse, my heat went out in the wee hours of the morning, and I’m wrapped in an electric blanket while I wait for the propane to be delivered. And despite making sure my characters are stocked up at all times, I don’t have a single bottle of Scottish whiskey to keep me warm.
*Sigh*
I guess you could say I’m the literal definition of Netflix and chill, munching on chocolate chips straight from the bag and watching my dog chew my slipper because I’m just too cold to get up and take it from him...
Funny, right?
Wrong. At least according to my hubby. Though, as my son has frequently said, my husband simply has no sense of humor. Sad but true. Ironically, my first husband had no sense of humor either. It would seem I’m doomed to live a life married to men who are pitifully ill equipped to “snark” on the fly. This is why I had to train my kids while they were young. Listen people, if you want someone to exchange witty banter with, sometimes you just have to give birth to them.
And when they grow up and decide they have more exciting things to do than hang out with Mom, you have to make up characters to play with. And that’s where I am, making up people in my head so I have someone to exchange sarcastic quips with.
Enter Chloe from Suddenly Sorceress and the newly released Suddenly Spellbound. She’s not the main character, but when it comes to snarky wit, the girl has it in spades. She’s a shopaholic with attitude, and she’s one of my all-time favorite characters. For some reason, I always find myself more attracted to the supporting players than the main characters. I think they bring something extra special to the story. They feel like real people to me. And just maybe they represent the people I’d like to surround myself with in real life.
Or maybe I’ve been cooped up in this house too long. I’m starting to sound like a crazy writer.
After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time, Erica moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains where she lives in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse with her workaholic husband, her 180lb lap dog, and at least one ghost.
When she's not busy writing or tending to her collection of crazy chickens, diabolical ducks, and a quintet of piglets, hell bent on having her for dinner, she's either reading bad fan fiction or singing karaoke in the local pub. Much like the main character in her first book, To Katie With Love, Erica is a magnet for disaster, and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces.
How she's managed to survive this long is one of life's great mysteries.
