I have to have a HEA. If there's no happily ever after, what's the point? No HEA makes it a tragedy.

Anything but insta love. I love when characters fall for each other while going through things together, whether it be adventures or anything else, but seeing them getting closer to each other as they work together as a team.

Agustina Z said...

I agree with @Thais. I hate instalove. But I love the stories of friends to lovers. Also enemies to lovers, those stories are usually really fun :D

Susan T. said...

Sheena-kay Graham - I hate love triangles too! I totally agree that the worst is when abuse/stalking is presented as love. Drives me crazy!

Rhiannon said...

I need some action. Not buildings blowing up, but there needs to be a problem and things not go 100% smoothly. I hate romances where the characters just fall in love and it's smooth sailing. BORING!

Rhiannon said...

@Stacy- I want a believable relationship (not that they fell in love instantly) and one with strong female characters that do not lose their power/sense of self when they are in a relationship.

I'm like you. I can't stand when the female character gets so wrapped up in a relationship they forget that they're an individual and have likes and needs, ect. that have nothing to do with their love interest.

Alina P said...

I want to feel the connection :)

Sue A. said...

There must be chemistry/connection, and mutual respect between the lead characters and for the readers reasons for us to care that they stay together.

Sue A. said...

@ Sheena-kay Graham. I also find that what passes for "acceptable" alpha male behavior in some books would be considered abusive and criminal in the real world.

Jolanda said...

@Sue A. I totally agree with you about the chemistry/connection.

Danielle merkle said...

I agree with Karin, I like relatable charterers!

Buddy Garrett said...

I want passion and great characters.

I agree with @Christine Jensen. I like a book with humor, especially if it make me laugh. I love romantic comedies and even better if the characters are special :D

Susan T. said...

SavingsInSeconds - The plot is super important to me too! It can't be all about the romance!
