Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

Description:

He wants to find a wife. She doesn’t want to marry again –ever. Not exactly a match made in heaven. Ten years ago, Griff Montgomery, star quarterback of the Kings and womanizer, became a stand-in father for his widowed sister’s kids. His happy family life collapsed when she and her new husband moved to California. Griff wants his own family. But where does a “player” go to find his ideal mate?

Having sworn off marriage forever, Lauren Farraday barely kept her life together after her divorce. With her career shaky and depression closing in, the last thing she needed was a courtroom battle with a sexy athlete.

Forced, by a judge, into an uneasy truce, the pair denied their growing chemistry. Wary of Griff’s reputation with women, and hiding a secret, Lauren keeps him at arm’s length. Determined, Griff marches toward his goal. Can the quarterback handle the truth or will he walk away, like he always has in the past?

GUEST POST
Author's Top 10 Challenges of a (good) romance story

1. Creating a hero and heroine imperfect enough to be human, but perfect enough to be a fantasy.
2. Creating conflict without making the reader hate your hero or heroine.
3. Creating realistic challenges to their relationship to keep the story interesting and the main characters on their toes.
4. Writing dialogue that is realistic, fresh, emotional and often funny.
5. Keeping the pace even and fairly quick without rushing the story.
6. Lacing in some backstory to deepen the characters and justify their actions without bogging down the story and slowing the pace to a crawl.
7. Keeping the plot logical and believable.
8. Describing a town, apparel or room in evocative language using as few words as possible to keep the story flowing.
9. Keeping love scenes from becoming repetitive and boring.
10. Wrapping everything in the story up neatly and not leaving the reader hanging.

In my stories, I like to have supporting characters that add flavor and depth to the story.
