Description:
Private investigator RB Kendrick makes her living nailing cheating spouses, digging up other dirt to help in a divorce, finding long-lost relatives, and occasionally sniffing out criminal activity and fraud.
When she takes a job to find a missing girl, she has no idea she is headed for the most dangerous case of her career. Usually, her ability to read minds gives her an edge. But when the people she’s hunting are also telepaths, that advantage is limited.
The search takes her into the dark underbelly of telepathic society, where anything, and anyone, is for sale. She discovers that telepathic women and girls are being trafficked as the ultimate sex slaves.
With people trying to kill her, she’s on the run, not knowing who she can trust. Will she find the missing girl, or become a victim herself?

When I first started writing, I read two pieces of advice over and over: write what you know, and write the book you would want to read. I don't know a whole lot, at least things most people would find interesting, but I read voraciously and know what I like and don't like. I read for information or to escape.
No one wants to read about George and Patty Smith, accountant and homemaker, and their two average children. What kind of escape is that? I think we all have fantasies, or at least we did when we were growing up. We wanted to be glamorous femme fatales or dashing heroes, having adventures and seeing wondrous places.
Of course, as we grew older, we all made choices. I read once that "an adventure is someone else having a horrible time a long ways away". So most of us decided to do something with our lives that didn't entail hanging off a cliff in a blinding snow storm with savages throwing spears at us. But we like reading about that sort of thing happening to others.
So I tend to make my female characters so beautiful that they stop traffic. They're feminine and make no apologies for being women. They like men so much that they want one or two for their very own, but they aren't dependent on men for their happiness or anything else. I don't like wimpy, dependent women, either in life or in fiction.
I like my male characters so handsome, strong and self-assured that they aren't threatened by women who can hold their own, whether in the boardroom, the bedroom, or a back-alley brawl. I believe a real man isn't afraid of women with brains. And brains with beauty is a devastating combination.
So I write characters who I would want to be. I try to make them real, with faults and doubts and inconsistencies just as we all have. But they have the strength and confidence to overcome their obstacles and succeed. I think in reading fiction, we want characters that we can want to be even more than characters we can identify with.
I think the best books are those that make us a bit sad that we have to re-enter our real world when we finish reading. I work a demanding, high-stress job, and when I pick up a novel, I want it to take me away to somewhere very different than my reality. Hopefully my books can do that for someone else.

I made silver and turquoise jewelry for almost a decade, ended up in nursing school, then took a master’s in business. Along the way I worked in construction, as a newspaper editor, a teacher, and somehow found a career working with computers.
I love the outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains. I’ve skied since high school, with one broken leg and one torn ACL to show for it. I’ve hiked and camped all my life. I love to travel. I’ve seen a lot of Russia and Mexico, not enough of England. Amsterdam is amazing, and the Romanian Alps are breathtaking. I was in Paris and Iceland this summer.
I have a very significant other, two cats and two Basset Hounds. I’m currently living in Baltimore, nine blocks from the harbor, but still own a home in New Mexico.

Interesting. I have heard of this book before but I didn't like the cover and the title. Idk I thought it's just another typical teen book. But now that I read the description I changed my mind. I like the way it sounds!
