Isn’t it true that you like stories of the Wild West?

I don’t think there are many who would say no. And I'm not referring to the cowboy that only handles the cattle herds, but to the lone and taciturn gun slinger like the one played by Clint Eastwood. Those tough guys with the hand on the gun and with itchy finger who are always looking for justice or to save the damsel in distress. Does it sound familiar to you? Sure, it's an old story, told and retold many times. Only the background changed, depending on the historical period. Just think how many stories are with and about the medieval wanderer knight. The theme of western stories is the same, only our hero is changing his lance with the Winchester rifle and the sword with the Colt revolver. The rest ... comes naturally.

And so, we turn to Michael Hebler’s story, Night Of The Chupacabra. But the author introduces a small element that will throw off the pattern observed in the lines above. A small element that will give to the story a fantasy, science fiction, or even horror atmosphere. Yes, horror, because next to the vigilante hero and villains, a new character will appear. And it’s not just any character, but a bloodthirsty monster. The newcomer will suddenly change the coordinates of the story and we will not get the final duel in front of the saloon. Of course, even now, the bullets will fly in all directions, the horses will be ridden to exhaustion and the traditional saloon hall will be hewing to pieces. It will be a night of terror and full of surprises for all because the book’s action takes place in one night, but what a night! A terrible fear will seize all those who are fighting in this memorable night. Ruthless claws and the specter of a terrifying death will bring everybody to the madness. We have three participating sides, but this will not be a Mexican standoff, but a race against time. The hero to save his family, villains to gruel him and slay the monster, and the monster ... what do you think the monster’s wishes are? You'll find for yourself, by reading the book.

Night of the Chupacabra is a western described in a grim and anguishing frame that will make you read the book in one breath. A frightening tale filled with adrenaline and tension where the author will avariciously reveal the reasons for which you’ll yearn throughout the novel. A terrible mystery will haunt the book’s pages from the beginning to the end, and you will witness a spectacular adventure told in an exciting and special way. A new horror story in an unique style that will make you want one thing only: a sequel!

Nu-i așa că vă plac poveștile din Vestul Sălbatic?

Nu cred că sunt mulți care ar spune nu. Și nu mă refer aici strict la cowboy-ul ce mână cirezile de vite, ci la acel pistolar singuratic și taciturn de genul celui interpretat de Clint Eastwood. A tipilor duri cu mâna pe pistol și cu mâncărime la deget aflați mereu în căutarea dreptății sau a salvării domniței în pericol. Vă sună cunoscut? Sigur că da, e o poveste veche de când lumea, spusă și respusă în toate felurile. Doar cadrul s-a schimbat în funcție de perioada istorică. Gândiți-vă numai câte povești medievale sunt cu şi despre cavaleri rătăcitori. Tema unor povestiri western sună tot așa numai că eroul nostru schimbă lancea pe carabina Winchester și spada pe revolverul Colt. Restul... vine de la sine.

Și uite așa, ne îndreptăm spre povestirea lui Michael Hebler, Night Of The Chupacabra. Numai că autorul introduce în roman un mic element ce va da peste cap tiparul amintit în rândurile de mai sus. Un mic element ce va poveștii un aer fantasy, SF, sau chiar horror. Da, horror, căci în afară de eroul justițiar și de răufăcători, un nou personaj își va face apariția. Iar acesta nu este unul oarecare, ci chiar un mostru însetat de sânge. Noul personaj va schimba brusc coordonatele povestirii și nu vom mai avea parte de duelul final de pe strada principală. Bineînțeles gloanțele vor zbura în toate părțile, caii vor fi călăriți până la epuizare, iar tradiționala sală a hotelului va fi făcută praf și de această dată. Va fi o noapte de groază pentru toți (acțiunea principală a cărții se petrece într-o singură noapte), dar ce noapte! O teamă cumplită va pune stăpânire pe toți ce se răfuiesc în această noapte de pomină. Gheare necruțătoare și spectrul unei morți terifiante îi vor aduce pe toți în pragul nebuniei. Vom avea trei tabere participante, însă nu va fi un duel mexican la mijloc, ci o cursă contra cronometru. Eroul să-și salveze familia, răufăcătorii să-i pună pielea-n băț și să răpună monstrul, iar monstrul... ce dorințe credeți că poate avea un monstru? O să aflați singuri citind cartea.

Night Of The Chupacabra este un western deosebit descris într-un cadru sumbru și angoasant ce vă va face să citiți cartea pe nerăsuflate. O povestire înfricoșătoare plină de adrenalină și tensiune în care autorul vă va dezvălui cu zgârcenie explicațiile după care veți tânji pe tot parcursul romanului. Un mister îngrozitor va bântui paginile cărții de la început până la sfârșit, iar voi veți fi martorii unei aventuri spectaculoase povestite într-un mod antrenant și deosebit. O nouă povestire horror spusă într-un mod inedit ce vă va face să vă doriți un singur lucru: o continuare!

O carte care vă va plăcea cu siguranță și nu veți regreta timpul petrecut în compania ei.

Michael recently became an author after building a career in feature film publicity, but his passion to create stories with suspense, laughter, and heart is not his only love.  Michael also volunteers for Meals on Wheels in Southern California, as well as aids in his local area's capture/spay/neuter/release program.
