Description:

Determined to forget her ex-fiancé and gather the remains of her betrayed heart, Charisma Claiborne scrapes together her hard earned pennies for a dream trip to Las Vegas. On her first day in town, she has an accident with an eccentric casino owner. Enthralled by his good looks, she falls into his bed for a steamy one night stand.

But Hunt Blackwater is more than a mysterious, gorgeous casino owner. Rumors of a Native American curse and a string of inexplicable deaths follow in his wake - but the most terrifying is his ability to reach right into Charisma’s soul and make her want the things she’s convinced herself she can do without.

Unwilling to get in over her head, Charisma cuts her trip short and returns home, but trouble seems to follow her. With remembered whispers of curses in her ears and the lingering smell of death in her nose, she wonders if she is his next victim. Things go from puzzling to harrowing as Charisma comes face to face with the greatest betrayal she could ever imagine.

The perfect balance: Erotic/Suspense/Thriller

Sealed in Blood was my first ‘real’ book and I had MANY challenges. In fact, there were so many that I had a critique partner read every chapter right after it was written. Building suspense and mystery takes a lot of plotting, and revealing secrets too soon can kill the story.

Personally, I feel erotica is one of the hardest genres to master. It requires engaging all of the five senses to give the reader that ‘unforgettable’ experience. *wink*

EXCERPT

Cans clanked in the back seat as the car slowed and veered to the side of the road. Rich smiled, then killed the engine and headlights. He reached underneath the driver’s seat and pulled out a duffel bag. Unzipping it, he fished out a pair of red panties. “Remember these?”

Charisma’s stomach jolted. They looked just like the panties she’d lost in a laundromat six months ago.

Charisma inched closer to the door, as Rich moved toward her. She winced from the sour stench of beer on his breath. “Let’s talk about Jared Lynch, shall we? I’ll bet he popped your sweet cherry on prom night. Correct, my dear?”

Bewildered by the mention of that name and the painful memory it evoked, she narrowed her eyes. “None of your business, jerk!”

Rich curled his lip. “You haven’t changed. You never gave me a chance then, or now, because I’m not good enough for you. Oh, no. You turned me down for that grease monkey who knocked you up and dumped you on your ass.” He laughed. “I saw you going up to Blackwater’s room. How long do you think he’ll want your [...] in a town like Vegas?”

With a lecherous grin, he flicked his tongue out to slide across her lips, and eased a rope out of the bag “Did you enjoy his pity [...]?”

Nausea coiled in Charisma’s stomach. Her pulse raced when she reached down, realizing she’d forgotten her purse. She flung open the door, blindly leaping into the pitch black of night, screaming. The heels of her pumps sank into the desert terrain, causing her to stumble. She kicked out of her shoes at the crunch of footsteps trailing closely. Unable to regain full balance, she fell forward. Her effort to get back up was cut off by his viselike grip around her ankles. Charisma kicked against his hold, her fingers raking the ground for leverage, while he dragged her back toward the car.
