I’m running out of time. My mental clock screams that I have less than a minute until the alarm will be triggered. My partner has done all the legwork. I don't know who he is. It doesn't matter.
They found me, knew of my skills, and requested my expertise. I hadn't done it for the money.
Sixteen-year-old Madeline has been living on the streets, biding her time until she's eighteen. With little to no money, she takes on a heist in hopes of making ends meet. What could possibly go wrong?
Everything.
Getting caught is just the beginning of Madeline's adventure as she meets Weston and discovers the secret of where she came from.
EXCERPT
My father heads out the front door and I reach for the remote, turning up the television.
My eyes widen in horror and the color in my cheeks vanish when I see a sketch of Madeline flash up on the screen. How is it possible that she is the fugitive? I remember leaving the police station with her, but she hadn’t been in handcuffs. If she was a fugitive, why didn’t anyone stop her? The girl had been sitting in the waiting area, same as me. I assumed one of her parents worked at the station as an officer or a clerk. It’s where I always waited for my father. She wasn’t the first person I’d ever met but no one had ever been a suspect in a homicide! Was I an idiot for letting her get into my car? My stomach sinks. If Dad isn’t pissed at me before, he’s certain to be now. How am I going to explain this to him?
"The young woman seen here is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see her, do not approach her. Contact your local law enforcement immediately." The news anchor changes to another story.
I flip through two more channels but the reports have just ended. There’s no additional information I can gather from the news. I shut off the television. It can't be real. I down my eggs in one breath and head up the stairs to my bedroom in a rush.

Thanks for featuring Stolen Art today!
I don't remember titles very well. Sorry. I guess I don't read much sci fi :(
My favorite sci-fi would be the Joe Ledger series.
