The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft -not Croft- (Lara Craft Saga #1) by Lola Salt

Published: October 7th, 2014

Description:

From bestselling authors Becky Wicks (Before He Was Famous, Before He Was Gone) and Sarah Alderson (Hunting Lila, Fated, Come Back to Me) comes a new romance with a difference…

After losing her job and her boyfriend on the same day, Lara’s beginning to wonder if her life can possibly get any worse. Then along comes Jamie, a childhood friend, offering her a job delivering mysterious packages to random destinations around the world and suddenly things are looking up.

Lara packs her bags and sets off on an epic adventure, meeting billionaire Arabic Princes, rugged cowboys, a sparkling wannabe vampire, a love guru with sex on the brain and Angelina Jolie’s bodyguards along the way. But though trouble always seems to find Lara, it seems love is rather more elusive.

Pack your bags. The adventure’s about to begin!

GUEST POST

Becky Wicks and Sarah Alderson - British authors of the hilarious new comedy romance The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft (not Croft) talk writing the perfect mix of humor and romance, and what inspired their crazy character Lara…

How cheap, bad wine inspired us…
Both of us are big travel fans who actually met in Bali thanks to a mutual friend, so as we sat there sipping cheap, and very bad Indonesian Chardonnay we were discussing the success of 50 Shades of Grey when we thought we should try to write something that would be equally successful (ahem). The more we thought about writing an erotica though, the more we spat that cheap Chardonnay back out through our nostrils and we realised we probably wouldn’t be able to do it without laughing.

How realism inspired us…
As we plotted out what was to become The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft (not Croft) our travels crept their way in, until the whole book was based not around eroticism, but around a young woman’s adventure as she makes her way around the globe delivering mysterious packages for various people. She’s inspiring people as well as being inspired the whole time, as often happens when you travel. We realised that by blending humour with romance we could make her likeable on her journey, but also more realistic. Romance and love isn’t always roses and perfect kisses. Love is messy. Love is unpredictable and wild, like Lara’s life.

How real people inspired us…
There are so many real people in this book - as in, characters we’ve both met in reality. Obviously we’ve changed the names, but let’s just say that the hippy cult leader in Bali is still walking those frangipani scented streets today. And we all know the crazies who populate LA looking for ways to make their wildest dreams come true. They’re all fabulous, inspiring and just begging to be put in a book, so that’s what we did. After changing their names of course. Lara herself I think is a mixture of both our former selves. We were dying to see the world and make a difference in some way, and in her own unique way, that’s what Lara does on her extraordinary adventure.

We hope you fall in love with her on her journey!
