Interview and Giveaway: Fighting Connollys series by Roxie Rivera

Description:

After a stalker breaks into her home, internet entrepreneur Bee Langston decides Kelly Connolly is the only man who can help her—but seeking help from the former Marine isn’t easy, especially after she made a spectacular fool of herself trying to kiss the sinfully sexy bodyguard.

When Kelly spots Bee weaving her way through the Houston nightspot where he’s working security, all those feelings he’s desperately tried to deny for his best friend’s sister come flooding to the surface. He’ll do anything to keep her safe, even if means getting up close and personal with the one woman he simply can’t have.

Soon, Bee’s stalker isn’t his only problem. His gambling addict father is tangled in a mess of debts to two of Houston’s toughest loan sharks. With the family gym on the line, there’s only one way for Kelly to make everything right. He agrees to fight for the Albanian mob in an underground bare-knuckle fighting tournament.

But winning the tournament and saving his family’s legacy comes at a high price—one that just might cost Bee her life.

When pawn broker Abby Kirkwood discovers the evidence of a chilling drug cartel hit on one of the video cameras hocked in her store, she turns to the only man she can trust—Jack Connolly.

The smolderingly sexy former Marine runs a successful gym down the street and coaches her brother's special needs baseball team. He's the one man who is always there when she needs him. If anyone can protect her family, it's commanding, capable Jack.

The moment he learns someone is threatening Abby and her brother, Jack sees red. To save the woman he's secretly loved for years, he'll do whatever it takes, even if it means facing off with a Mexican drug cartel and making deals with the same Albanian mob outfit that tried to ruin his family.

He finally has sweet, feisty Abby right where she was always meant to be—writhing with pleasure in his bed and safely sheltered in his arms. The vicious cartel assassin hot on her heels has no idea what he's up against.

The Connolly brothers are standing strong together—and no one touches their family.

MB's INTERVIEW
Thank you, Mrs. Roxie Rivera

Why brothers, why former Marines, why… How hard is and what it takes to create a fresh, new plot for every brother?
When Kelly's character popped into my head while writing the Her Russian Protector series, I knew that he had two older brothers and that he had been a Marine. Because I married into a family with a long tradition of Marines, I figured that Kelly would have followed his older brothers into the Corps. And, of course, telling stories about brothers adds interesting layers to a story.

I enjoy coming up with new, fresh plots for stories. My biggest worry is that I won't have time to write them all! J

How important it is for the whole and how do you build the suspense part of the stories?
I try to think of the underlying suspense plot as the thing that drives the pace of the story. There's always a danger or a threat (usually more than one) that throws the characters together and keeps them in close quarters in, ahem, interesting situation. When I'm outlining a book, I see the suspense as the tent poles that support the romance fabric.

April 2014
(Almost) every woman wants her (dream) man to be an alpha. But what an alpha man means? And where the line must be drawn?
I think of an alpha as someone like my husband—strong, capable, brave, respectful and willing to do whatever it takes to take of the people he loves. I'd like to say that I draw the line at the so-called "alphahole" characters….but damned if I don't love those old school romances with heroes like Brandon Birmingham from The Flame and the Flower. For me, as a reader, it comes down to whether or not I believe a hero can be truly redeemed.

If lust can be easier to present, how do you convey the true love?
Love is instant. Love is enduring. A couple might come together in a burst of passion at the beginning of a book, but all the obstacles they overcome convey their growing (and enduring) love for each other.

The intimate scenes are no longer a taboo in literature. What is their role and when do you think “is too much”?
The role of a love scene in a book depends on the genre. In a romance novel, the love scenes are those yummy little bits that break up some of the drama and show that a couple is falling in love and building something real. In erotic romance, the love scenes tend to be the driving force of the novel. In erotica, the sex is the story.

As to the question of too much? Between my pen names, I've written scorching hot romances, super sexy erotic romance and blistering (and even taboo) erotica. I use the heat level that fits a story and follow that as my guide.

About the author:
I like to write super sexy romances and naughty erotica that make your pulse pound. You can get updates on new releases by visiting my website, signing up for my newsletter here or liking my author page on Facebook.

I also write erotic romances as Lolita Lopez including the red-hot GRABBED series for Ellora’s Cave and the upcoming Dragon Heat series from Forever Yours/Grand Central.
