Guest Post and Giveaway Captured Lies by Maggie Thom

Published: October 17th, 2013

Description:

She was kidnapped not once but twice and now someone wants her dead because of it....
Her life was a lie!
Bailey knew her upbringing wasn’t normal but she’s worked hard to stabilize her life. At 29, she finally has a good business, a stable home; her life is miles from that of her childhood. Then suddenly her mother dies, leaving a gaping hole and a discovery that they may not even be related. If Guy, the private investigator is to be believed, her life is a lie. Using the skills she learned on the streets, Bailey travels back through a sketchy and dangerous past, to find answers. Dodging bullets, staying ahead of those who want her dead and convincing Guy she can do it alone, are making it difficult to discover not only the secrets of her mother’s past but that of a family claiming she is theirs.
Everyone seems to have a story... but who’s telling the truth? And who wants her dead? Is Guy part of the solution? Or part of the problem? To discover the facts, she’ll have to untangle a web of deceit, lies, and secrets, dating back over thirty years.

GUEST POST
What inspired you to write in the suspense romance genre?

I love reading. I have been reading since I was quite young. I started out reading romances and real life stories. Then I branched out and started reading pretty much everything I could get my hands on. I also love writing and have been writing since I was quite young. When I was in my late twenties I decided I wanted to write a romance. I loved reading Nora Roberts, Judith McNaught, Jayne-Anne Krentz and many others and so I wanted to know if I could write like them. So I wrote a romance. And then another. And then another. I never really did anything with them because I always felt there was something missing. They weren’t quite there, as in being a good romance not as in writing like the authors I mentioned. :)

By this point in time I had found authors like Sandra Brown, Mary Higgins Clarke, Robert Ludlum and many others. I found I loved the suspense. The intrigue. The mystery. So I started to play around with Captured Lies, the first novel I published, which was originally just a romance. I already really liked the story and had a lot of positive feedback from people but I wanted to add something. So I started to change it up. And I found that I liked the story a lot more. It was more compelling. More interesting. More grabbing. It finally felt like the story and my writing was finally there.

I learned that I like creating suspense. I like creating strong, independent women who can look after themselves. I like having these women go on a journey to solve something and to ultimately find someone as well.

I think suspense, murder, mystery and romance make a fascinating read. Don’t you?

About the author:
Maggie Thom took the challenge and leapt off, leaving a full time twenty year career in management, to write full time. Her third book, Deceitful Truths (sequel to Captured Lies) available fall of 2013. An avid reader and writer her whole life, she decided to break the monotony of wishing to be an author by making it happen. Married to her best friend, she is learning that humor, love and patience help her navigate her way through her twins’ teen years.

I would love to be able to follow @maggiethom2 and @GBHTours on twitter, but I've hit their limit of 2000 to follow. Which makes no sense at all. I can't grow until my list of followers starts to climb towards that number also.

I need to have a "discussion" with the people at Twitter.
