Review Dying Days - Dying Days 2 by Armand Rosamilia

Another zombie story? Yes, I do not give up! But this it’s a real one, without nonsense, and other pathetic innovations and other fancies. A traditional story that throws you directly into the action without wasting time with all kinds of introductions, descriptions and explanations of misfortune that has befallen humanity.

It's about Dying Days and Dying Days 2 by Armand Rosamilia. I think we can talk about both because they are labeled as novella , so no bigger than a story, but with the characteristics of a novel. It is a indie work (no need to use plural), but do not be fooled, it is very good one.

Main heroine (yes, a woman again, see how much we appreciate you girls?), Darlene Bobitch is a tough woman who knows to take care of herself in a devastated world full of dangers. You will say that we have the same issue as Resident Evil. It’s not the same, she is a believable character, well developed, more humane and without any exaggeration. The narrative is smooth, descriptions are visual, even cinematic. The characters are well defined and their interaction takes place in a natural way, as the story and situations to succeed smoothly without bridges of all kinds, forced or unnecessary explanations. The author leads with dexterity the events, everything is gradually develop without losing the control of the story.

Creatures are everywhere, but the author is based more on human relationships, and this is very well because the human factor is decisive one in the running of the action both in good and in bad way. Do not expect a story where the undead will come in waves (relax, they are present, very present in some moments), but it will not be a stupid slaughter with human remains and blood or zombies’ to be splashed in all directions. But even in this horrible situation of a dying world, there are enough idiots and bastards who do all kinds of shit, misdeeds and mess the last remnants of society. Daily survival, the pale attempt to restore the normality existed before the disaster, restoring confidence in others, these are coordinates in which the central characters evolve.

Extreme violence, sexual situations ... words you'll find in presentation, but do not go thinking too far. Of course, you’ll find violence, what the hell it’s a zombie story, sex is nothing exaggerated, but still it’s a book that is mainly for adults.

Armand Rosamilia give a new perspective to the zombie genre without eliminating the traditional tracks, but does not fall into clichés, he eliminates the useless ballast and give us a lively, fresh and exciting story.

The way the book was created allows all sorts of continuation or developments of the main line story.

The author has written a prequel to Dying Days, which is titled Darlene Bobich-Zombie Killer (which I expect it, I'll tell you about it) and he promises a sequel in 2013. Armand Rosamilia is a writer that has proven his talent, an author who deserves to be watch.

If you want a zombie story that will not bore you and not gross you in the same time, then that's it, read it with confidence.

Încă o povestire cu zombie? Da, nu mă las. Dar e una adevărată, fără prostii, fițe și alte inovații scremute. O poveste tradițională ce vă va arunca direct în acțiune fără a mai pierde timpul cu tot felul de introduceri, descrieri și explicații ale năpastei ce s-a abătut asupra umanității.

Este vorba despre Dying Days și Dying Days 2 de Armand Rosamilia. Cred că putem vorbi despre amândouă pentru că sunt catalogate ca fiind novella, deci nu mai mari decât o povestire, dar totuși cu caracteristicile unui roman și nu ar avea rost să batem câmpii de pomană. Este o lucrare (nu e nevoie să folosim pluralul) indie, însă nu vă lăsați înșelați, este foarte bună.

Eroina principală (da, tot femeie, vedeți ce mult vă apreciem fetelor?), Darlene Bobitch, este o femeie dintr-o bucată ce știe să-și poarte de grijă într-o lume devastată și plină de pericole. O să spuneți că avem același subiect ca în Resident Evil. Nu este așa, personajul de aici este credibil, bine dezvoltat, mai uman și fără exagerări. Narațiunea este fluentă, descrierile sunt vizuale, chiar cinematografice. Personajele sunt bine conturate, iar interacțiunea lor are loc într-un mod natural, la fel cum și situațiile din povestire se succed cursiv, fără punți de legătură forțate sau tot felul de explicații inutile. Autorul conduce cu dexteritate desfășurarea evenimentelor, totul este bine gradat, fără a pierde din mână controlul povestirii.

Creaturile sunt prezente peste tot, dar autorul se bazează mai mult pe relațiile dintre oameni, și bine face, căci tot factorul uman este decisiv în desfășurarea acțiunii atât în bine, cât și în rău. Nu vă așteptați la o poveste unde morții vii vor veni în valuri (sunt și ei destul de prezenți, chiar foarte prezenți în unele momente, stați liniștiți), însă nu va fi un măcel stupid în care sângele și resturile umane sau de zombie să fie împroșcate în toate direcțiile. Dar chiar și în situația asta îngrozitoare a unei lumi muribunde, se găsesc destui idioți și nenorociți care să facă tot felul de tâmpenii, nelegiuiri și să dea peste cap ultimele rămășițe ale societății pierdute. Supraviețuirea de zi cu zi, încercarea palidă de a reface normalitatea de dinainte de catastrofă, recâștigarea încrederii în semeni, acestea sunt coordonatele sub care evoluează personajele centrale ale cărții.

Violență extremă, situații sexuale... cuvinte pe care le veți găsi în prezentare, dar nu vă duceți cu gândul prea departe. Bineînțeles că violență o să găsiți, ce naiba, doar este o poveste cu zombie, cu sexul nu este nimic exagerat, însă este o carte care se adresează în special adulților.

Armand Rosamilia aduce un suflu nou stilului zombie, fără a elimina anumite lucruri clasice, însă nu cade în clișee, elimină balastul inutil și ne prezintă o lucrare vie, proaspătă și antrenantă.

Modul în care a fost creată cartea permite tot felul de continuări sau ramificații ale liniei principale a povestirii. Autorul a scris un prequel la Dying Days care se intitulează Darlene Bobich-Zombie Killer (pe care o aștept, o să vă spun și despre ea) și ne promite o continuare în 2013. Armand Rosamilia este un scriitor ce și-a dovedit talentul, un autor pe care merită să-l urmăriți.

Dacă vreți o poveste cu zombie care să nu vă plictisească, dar și să nu vă scârbească, atunci asta e, citiți-o cu încredere.
