I live in Ireland but unfortunately the 'luck of the Irish' doesn't seem to have rubbed off on me! I don't believe in it anyway!

ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about this and realised that I do have some sayings from childhood such as "White horse, white horse, bring me luck, may tomorrow be the day I pick something up!" Every time I see a white horse in a field!

ReplyDeleteIn the Western world it's considered bad luck if a black cat crosses your path (dates back to the times of witch trials etc.) but in China it's lucky! I live with a black cat so who knows!

ReplyDeleteIn Ireland it's considered unlucky if a clock stops. Dad's grandfather clock hasn't run since the day he died. He'd have been able to fix it but for now it just stands there, quiet.

Here's another one! On the 1st of May, you're supposed to bathe your face in the early morning dew thus ensuring a beautiful complexion. Don't know about that but the neighbours might start to worry!

I used to work with a guy who always won raffles etc. Turned out he was a heavy gambler, spent a fortune & ended up in Rehab. That kind of luck I don't want.
