  1. Here in Ireland we still celebrate Samhain, the Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest and the light fading into the darkness of winter. It's also the time of year when the veil separating this world from the next, the light from the dark, is lifted and when spirits abound. The custom of dressing up originates from disguising oneself so spirits wouldn't recognise you & lead you to their world.

  2. Halloween represents fun, fear and candy. I know people used to wear masks to protect themselves from evil spirits.

  3. Years ago I think they wore costumes to get rid of any ghosts.

  4. I am not sure what Halloween represents historically, but for me it represents a chance to give away candy and dress up :)

  28. Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All Hallows' Evening), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
    Thanks for the contest.
