How hard can it be? - Thrax (Angelbound Origins #4) by Christina Bauer

"CB truly has brought a whole new look to sci-if/fantasy and I am completely in love. The AngelBound Origins Series proves that just because you are a demon and live in Purgatory doesn't mean you're bad and can't help save the world!" - Ashlee, Goodreads

Description:

Published: June 27th, 2017

Myla Lewis has married Prince Lincoln, and now they’re expecting! All the after-realms rejoice. Myla should be happy too, but she has a serious problem. The day after their honeymoon ended, Myla’s real husband disappeared.

The man who’s sharing her bed is an imposter.

Myla tries explaining about “Evil Lincoln,” but no one will listen. The reason? People think that Myla’s supernatural pregnancy is making her cray cray. Mostly because that’s what Evil Lincoln is telling everyone, and that man’s a great liar. What a creep.

There’s no way Myla will take this lying down, though. She’s going to rescue her man, and she has a pretty good idea where he’s being held. With her best friend, Cissy, along to help, Myla sneaks off to Earth. All she has to do is blend in with the humans, avoid Evil Lincoln, and find her real man before the baby arrives. How hard can it be?

GUEST POST
TOP TEN THINGS AN AUTHOR MUST DO

The lovely folks at Mythical Books asked me to list my top ten suggestions for authors, and I’m happy to share! So you know, I’ve written twelve books and have moved a half-million ebooks, and these are some of the writing rules that I live by…

NUMBER 10: Read GOOD Stuff
Everyone tells writers to read, but you have to be careful what you put in your head. If you’re consuming the same stuff as everyone else, then guess what? Your work will be like everyone else’s. And if that’s your life goal, good for you. But if you want to break new ground, I find it’s best to find books that are off the beaten path. I love indies for this reason; they don’t know what the rules are, so they tend to break them all over the place. And I really try to avoid blockbuster books because I don’t want to pick stuff up from them by mistake.

NUMBER 9: Set Writing Goals
In my case, I set the goal to write daily, but inside I know that’s not really practical. Still, I set it anyway because I need the pressure of a missed deadline in order to get my butt in gear. In other words, you have to play around with formats and so forth to figure out the right way to trick yourself into writing. It is what it is!

NUMBER 8: Find Awesome Editors
For me, an awesome editor is someone who knows your space, has the same story values that you do, and who makes you feel great after the edits are done. Some people love an editor who is tough and kicks your butt. “This is cheesy! This is terrible!” That kind of thing. For me, a little of that goes a long way. Over time, I’ve found that my most productive scenario is for someone to provide stellar feedback in a professional and encouraging manner.

NUMBER 7: Get Amazing Artists
I love a good cover, and I work hard to find artists to create arresting images as well as to design custom fonts. This is a lot of work, BTW. My latest source for talent is a web site called dribble.com, where you can find artists from all over the world. A good graphic artist is worth every penny.

NUMBER 6: Team With A Distributor
Once you get five titles under your belt, you can work with a distributor like INscribe Digital (they’ve been my disti for years.) These folks maintain ‘birthday card’ relationships with the folks at main retailers. As in: “OMG, Bill, it’s your birthday—did you get my card? And are you putting up a banner for Christina Bauer’s new book on your home page?” Sucking up to people is a full time job. I find it’s one that’s best left to the professionals.

NUMBER 5. Resist The Urge To Let Writing Take Over Your Life
For me, I’ve found that it’s important to keep my writing life in a separate spot. That’s why I go to coffee shops when I create. I actually produce more and better work when I take breaks and think about other stuff. My husband and son are fav topics :-)

NUMBER 4. Build Relationships With Readers & Bloggers
Not everyone is a fan of this, but I love reaching out to readers and bloggers. I’m especially big on thanking folks who participate in blog tours or cover reveals. (Thank you, Mythical Books!) For me, this is a huge part of what makes writing satisfying: I want to share my stories with others! Sure, there is a business reason to have these connections, but it goes deeper than that as well.

NUMBER 3. Read Reviews
And when I say you should read reviews, I mean you should especially read the bad ones. Only wait until you’re in a good head space to read them and give yourself a few days to process the feedback. Not sure if that’s the best advice for everyone, but it definitely works for me. If I wake up a few days later and think “they had a good point about [FILL IN THE BLANK],” then I work on that. I always want to be growing in terms of my craft. Writers are like sharks; if we don’t keep moving forward, then we’ll die creatively.

NUMBER 2: Drink Coffee
Not sure this is a rule for everyone, but it sure helps me be a productive author. Yum!

NUMBER 1: Be Thankful
Having stories in your head is a gift. Only YOU contain those tales. Only YOU can bring them into being. It’s both a blessing and a responsibility. My suggestion is to act accordingly.
