He’s given her no reason to like him, but there are many reasons to marry him.
"Here is another wonderful story from Lisa Dawn Sadler. Lisa Dawn Wadler is very good writer. I have all the Draig's series so far and really enjoyed reading them. I hope she will write more of the Draig's series." - Barbara, Goodreads

A call for help transports Emma from her lonely world to medieval Scotland. Accepting her fate and opening her heart she finds the love of a father, a trusted friend, and a child who captures her heart, but the arrogant laird offends her at every turn.

Declan, Laird of the Draig, carries the heavy burden of protecting and providing for those of the clan. Faced with the possibility of losing his land, his title, and his daughter, he accepts his own fate—he must marry and his dreams must die. A marriage of convenience is his only option.

Intrigued by Emma’s courage and strength, Declan uses every trick in the book to have her by his side and in his bed. Will the laird’s responsibilities destroy them both?

GUEST POST
Why mix martial arts into romance novels?

Recently, I was asked why would I mix martial arts into a romance novel? The answer was simple: why not? The genre contains magic, mythical beings, gods, demons, shape-shifters and more fantastical beings that I can count. So why not women who are physically capable without fantasy?

I recently earned my black belt in Tae Kwon Do at age forty-eight. My kids started in the program and the owner of the dojo talked me into joining them on the mat – one of the best decisions I have ever made. Several hours a week are spent growing stronger, learning new skills and sharing an activity. My teenage daughter hugs me during class – yep, I know that’s a special moment.

The classes made me view the world and my beloved historical romance in a different light. If I can escape a hold on my person, why can’t the heroine? In too many books she has to wait to be saved by the strong, handsome hero. While I do adore those alpha men, the heroine should also be strong, or at least strong enough. The self-defense I’ve learned has been about using the attacker’s momentum and hold against them.

When seeking an historical romance with a strong heroine, I discovered women made into super-human creatures, mythical spells and only fantasy. I wanted some reality in my fiction, so I wrote it and took it one step further. In each of my Draig Clan books, the heroine is the true hero. She saves the day, the clan and the laird – though he is always worth rescuing. Time travel comes in handy for placing these women in medieval Scotland.

I am constantly amazed at the number of strong women I know who are working toward making themselves better, whether through education, exercise or spiritual awareness. Something wonderful happens in your mid-forties, you step back and look at who you are and measure that against who you want to be. I know so many amazing women who have gone back to school to start a new career, others who are using their time to volunteer and attempt to make the world a better place.

My daughter should be a second-degreed black belt before she leaves for college. Will I worry about her alone on a college campus? Yes! But I will know she knows better than to walk in the dark alone and that in the worst-case scenario, she’ll break arms. I love that about her.

We demand so much from ourselves on a daily basis - let’s demand more from our heroines. Mine will always be smart and loving, but they will also save the day.

About the author:
Lisa began writing after reading yet another romance novel where the heroine needed a man to rescue her from physical harm. While a firm believer in the strong alpha-male hero in any story, she wondered what would happen if that hero met a woman who was able to take care of herself physically. Using her several years of Tae Kwon Do training and mixing in time travel, her multi-award winning debut novel, The Draig’s Woman was born.

Lisa lives in the Chicago suburbs and is married to her high school sweetheart. They have two children and one very spoiled dog.
