Folklore to Fantasy

Folklore tales are passed down from generation to generation to explain our fears of the unknown. It creates plausible explanations to our experiences. Fantasy takes what is familiar and offers a new twist to an old concept. People are able to explore the world with an open sense of wonder and see life through another lens.

Is fantasy dead in modern culture or more alive than ever in our society? 

Look at the range of dystopian novels and movies on the market. Goodreads top twenty-five fantasy books and we realize the market is booming with newfound adventures.

Hunger Games fights an evil regime, the innocence of compassion emerges to destroy the mighty and bring about change to the society.

Harry Potter fights against an evil tyrant while still holding a sense of innocence regarding the world.

In our modern world of computers, online communication, isolation, and virtual reality individuals crave an adventure to fight good and evil, to explore new possibilities, to tackle race relationships, to explore our own hidden fears of monsters. It offers the psyche a chance to find solutions to the questions that plague the deepest part of our souls. 

The human dilemma…

People are baffled at the human condition around the planet. Fantasy helps us understand and explore the human condition; to search out answers and find solution in alternative universes.

In Faerie’s Ring, three realms the celestial, human, and terrestrials come together to defeat the daemon of negativity taking over the Sedona vortexes. It’s the innocence of one young woman willing to sacrifice in order to bring balance to the world.

As the writer of a paranormal romance, I’m exploring my inner thoughts, opinions, and beliefs regarding the dimension and universe I find myself living in.

Jaylee Austin lives in Apple Valley California with her partner and dog. Jaylee has a Master’s in Education and works to inspire young writers to take the challenge to find their creative mojo. She spends her days teaching junior high and writing romance. 

In her free time she takes classes to improve her craft. She is the proud mother of a wonderful son and two charming and beautiful granddaughters.
