A near-death experience at the hands of her husband would cause any woman to cling to her crippling trust issues and dating phobia, and Macyn McIntyre is no exception. Falling into the lap of a sexy stranger may persuade her to change her mind, but before Macyn realizes what’s happening, a second potential love interest is vying for her affections.

Romantic Suspense:
Which is Better for Your Novel—Romance or Suspense?
I’m S.L. Stacker, and I write Romantic Suspense novels. However, when I began my writing career as a fiction blogger, I thought I was going to write a romance blog with an air of mystery. Boy, was I ever wrong! When my genre was pointed out, I took some time to reflect upon what I was told, and I soon realized the person who explained this to me was absolutely correct, and I realized why.
I’m like most people, and I get wrapped up in the romantic side of things. I always want a book to end with a happily-ever-after, and that stems from my love of fairy tales where the girl always gets her prince. What can I say, I’m a sucker for love. Yet, I find myself loving mysteries and suspenseful aspects almost as much as the romantic side of things. My husband can vouch for this because he’s always telling me I need to broaden my tastes in television programs. If I’m sitting in front of a TV, you can bet there is some type of crime show on because that is what I’m drawn to.
When I write, I like giving the readers the who done it rather quickly. I want to show how my characters can use the race against time situation they’re facing in order to grow and build on their relationship. However, I also feel it’s important they acknowledge the situation they’re in and give it focus as well. I mean, ultimately, they can’t have a happy ending unless the bad guy is taken care of.
For me the romantic side will be there when I write, but the suspense within the story will help the characters find and strengthen their loves for each other.
S.L. Stacker is a romantic suspense author and novelist with Booktrope publishing and a member of International Thriller Writers association. She has written and published three books in the Macyn McIntyre series. Her current work includes several fiction novels, but her focus is Sisters of Summit Bay—to be published in 2015. When she isn’t throwing her readers for a loop and leaving them with cliffhangers, she can be found chilling with her husband, children, and dog.
