REVIEW
I really like the cover and, I admit, it was one of the reasons (honestly now, who doesn’t do this when the book and/or author are unknown to him?) I chose to read the book and, after I did it, I can say it fits, but not at a superficial level. So do not be misled by its dreamy atmosphere... the only link that the story has with the sleep is that the sleep of reason can produces monsters. And the monsters from Chemical Attraction are some real ones... so real as human nature or Blood Brain Barrier. Human nature that the author will successfully exploit in her story, pointing out both the positive and especially the negative sides of it. Human nature that will make innocent or not so much victims and will create a constant state of danger to those involved.
Chemical Attraction is described as a romantic suspense and I don’t know if it's because of the date on which it was written or it was the desire of the writer (I hope with all my heart that it is the latest), but we are not in the situation in which the suspense part of the story is just a facile vehicle for romance. No, the suspense is a main ingredient too, just as important as the romance. The fight to identify and catch the criminals before they make new victims, the recovery of the unorthodox scientific research results that were supposed to save lives is the central pillar of the story. Christina Thompson knew how to introduce unexpected, thrill, even gore and she knew how to vary the lighter moments, some pigmented with humor (talking in code was very funny indeed) with the serious ones. Also, the author has provided enough clues throughout the story, but also red herrings, so that the reader is encouraged to find out by himself the perpetrators while continuing to read breathless.
The romance moments, we have a HEA in progress and a possible new relationship about to spring, bring a different kind of suspense whose outcome can be disastrous if the fight with the criminals would become a personal one since heated minds are prone to mistakes. It remains to be seen how our characters will handle this. Considering that our day literature tends to be seized by the explicit scenes, I really want to outline that their absence from Chemical Attraction does not diminish in any way the intensity of the characters’ feelings and experiences. Thumbs up here!
My conclusion in short is: I really liked the book, I look forward to read the next volumes and I recommend it to you!

Christina Thompson enjoys writing about the physical science, the emotional workings of our mind and heart, and the spiritual energy that taps into our passions. Her degree in biology from Nazareth College in Kalamazoo gave her a love of science and a background into the physical realm of the body. Her diploma in Traditional Chinese acupuncture from Midwest College of Oriental Medicine taught her that the mind and spirit affect the body in powerful ways.
