Good question! I think the age to read YA is different for each person and each book because of maturity happening differently for everyone. There are also books that are put out as YA that have some serious adult themes that would make me hesitate to let a teen no matter how mature read. I think its a case by case area.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Personally I just think that because YA fiction is just clean fiction thats easy to read and usually written from a Teenagers perspective, you can never grow out of it. I mean, if all books you read have to be from the perspective of someone your age, life would be dreadfully boring!! Anyways :P
ReplyDeleteI don't think is a specific age when you can read YA and after that you can't. If you like this genre you can read it anytime and at any age.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure a person is ever too old to read YA ;)
ReplyDeleteAge is just a number. You can read whatever you like at any age that fits you. My mother was a firm believer in letting me pick and choose what I wanted to read. She felt that it would improve my reading. She was right. I have a love of reading beyond measure.
ReplyDeleteAge? I'm 67 and read these and other all the time.
ReplyDeleteI think you're never too old to read YA books... I guess at some point in your life you may not like it as much as other genres, but stories like The Little Prince, the Harry Potter series and The Lord of the Rings are timeless and will stay in our hearts forever :)
ReplyDeleteI think good books in general are timeless and can be read by anyone. Then again, there are some books (like ones with lots of teen angst) that I find myself reading less and less as I grow older.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the Kid Lit Giveaway Hop! I wish I could enter, but I'm not on Google Friend Connect...

ReplyDeletePersonally I think you're never too old to read YA book.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you've ever too old to read YA, but I do have trouble relating to the characters. Especially when they are under 16.
