Description:
Her blood is toxic to vampires.
If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.
Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job...by hand.
Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.

Creating a Book’s Setting
The Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter series has been fun because I set it in my home state of Alaska. It’s not only the physical descriptions, but daily life and what that’s like in the Far North for the characters.
For Northern Bites (Aurora Sky, Vol. 2) I had to do more research because Aurora had a mission to complete in Sitka. The internet has been a godsend – saving me countless trips to the library. I love being able to look up information instantly, while I’m in the story.
One of the first things I do when writing about a place I haven’t visited is look for books, including fiction, set in that location.
I released a book set in Barcelona earlier in the year, which involved not only an area I’ve never visited, but a different culture and language. (Couldn’t convince my husband to take me on a research vacation.)
For Enchantment, book three in the Spellbound Trilogy, I did lots of reading, listening to Spanish music, watching Spanish movies, cooking Spanish food, and perhaps the most helpful – looking at people’s vacation photos online. (Thanks, folks, for posting those!)
Researching different locations is like planning a vacation, only not for yourself. But that’s the beauty of fiction – it takes you to all kinds of places.
