Description:
A Montana town where no
one is who they seem.... Everything about runaway heiress Ainsley
McLeon screamed trouble—from her luscious midnight locks to her
Louboutin-clad toes. Yet sexy, stoic bar owner Luc couldn’t deny the
instant connection he felt to the tempting stranger…or the long-dead
feelings she evoked. She could work in his pub until her truck was
fixed but after that she had to leave town for good. Ainsley traveled
with her own emotional baggage and there was no way she'd fall for the
bear-tempered Luc...no matter how many passionate nights she spent in
his bed or how safe she felt in his muscular arms. Can these two
opposites find love in the middle of a blizzard, or will Luc's darker
side and Ainsley's past catch up with them?
GUEST POST
How important is the cover for the Paranormal Romance Genre?
Paranormal covers, I think sometimes more than any genre, are incredibly important. I’m a paranormal reader and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a book because of the cover. Shallow? Maybe? But I feel like many times the covers give us that first hint about what a book is about. It can tell a reader everything from what the characters might look like, to setting the tone for the novel. I love the cover for “Lions, Tigers, and Sexy Bears, Oh My!” I can say that, because I had very little to do with the origination of that cover.
To give you some idea of the process, my publisher hired an artist to do a cover for the book. The hot guy was on the front, but the original background was kind of sunshine and rainbows. It didn’t fit the book, which is set in Montana in the winter. There are shifters involved, so I had her darken the background and add the moon, as it does play a part in the story.
As the Editorial Director of the Covet line, I’m involved in the production of all of the covers now. While some of our sister lines go for the same colors and branding, we are a little different. Our research has shown that paranormal readers like those distinctive covers. Like I mentioned before, I know I do. We try to make the covers fit the story. Sometimes you’ll see a couple, other times a hot guy. Our books have a lot of romance and we like to show that on our covers when we can. I love what we’ve done so far with Covet, I hope you do, too.
And I’m curious about your favorite covers from paranormal romances you’ve enjoyed.
Thank you for letting me hang out with you guys!
