REVIEW - Rock House Grill (Impact Series #1) by D.V. Stone

One man’s choices—One woman’s impact
Can love be the ingredient needed to survive the many obstacles they face?

REVIEW

Romance readers, you will like Rock House Grill! That is if you aren't looking for steamy scenes and rush "hit first, ask later" moments!

You, who are more like me, not a contemporary romance reader, could have a nice surprise and enjoy Mrs. D.V. Stone's book as well.

Why? First of all, I get the feeling that she knows what she talks about. The EMT / hospital scenes, not large but with high impact flow... naturally. Reading the author's description confirmed my suspicions. The efficiency that (should) characterise/s the EMT activity is detectable at any step. Nothing seems too much, useless or loose. Anything that happens has its purpose and consequences relevant to the love... stories. Yes, there are more than one love story here and the main ones are well developed even if the focus point is on Shay-Aiden. Second chances mean and come in different forms.

The author plays well her words. Maybe the guys' lines are a little bit close to what women think they want to hear, but that's why we read romance, isn't it? Anyway, they have enough "toxicity" (you know that male toxicity about which some feminists complain about) for them to remain alphas and attractive. Love and passion are both present; the reader will feel them not read about them, and in my books, this is the best way!

On the suspense side, the author is successful too. She prepared the stage well, setting out the necessary clues and even red herrings at the right time, stirring the characters and readers alike. She never passes the line of "too good to be true" or "too much". There are real dangers, victims and... surprises. And the secret ingredient is... you should know it!

Of course, we will... sorry, they will get their happy ending while leaving many readers to hope and dream of theirs! Between love and danger, the pages rapidly fly away.  Enjoy!

Description:

One man’s choices—One woman’s impact

Rock House Grill
Aden House, successful but driven chef and TV personality, refuses to slow down. His life implodes one night, damaging him both physically and emotionally. He's rescued by a woman he thinks of as his angel.

Shay McDowell has rebuilt her life after her divorce. She juggles volunteer EMT duties and her job, while dreaming of becoming a chef. She finds her way to Rock House Grill and back into the life of the man she helped save.

Can love be the ingredient needed to survive the many obstacles they face?

About the author:
Born in Brooklyn, D.V. Stone has moved around a bit and even lived for a time on a dairy farm in Minnesota before moving back east. Despite her wandering, she always considered herself a Jersey Girl. She met the love of her life and moved, this time to Sussex County. Her husband, Pete, is a lifelong Sussex County man. They share their home with Hali a mixed breed from a local shelter and Baby a small gray cat who bosses everyone around.

She’s had varied career path from working with the disabled led to becoming a volunteer EMT, which in turn led to working in hospital emergency rooms and then in a woman’s state prison. After a few years, she took a break from medical tasks and became the owner of Heavenly Brew, a specialty coffee shop in Sparta NJ, and small restaurant in Lafayette. Life handed some setbacks, and she ended up back to medical field, but this time in a veterinary emergency hospital.

During the poor economy, she was laid–off from a long-time position she cared about. Devastated, D.V. wondered what to do with her life. Finding comfort in her love of reading, she realized it was now time to follow her dream of writing. It's been a long road but worth every minute of it. Now a published author she also works in a people medical office again.

“Thank you for taking the time to read about me. Each time you open the pages to one of my books I hope you'll be swept away by the story and to, never in the real world give up on hope."

  11. Bernie, thank you for asking. I've just finished a book from a local author, near where I live, Judy Kentrus. It's titled Timeless Kiss. The local scenes and history are so much fun. I'm also reading Skeleton Crew by Stephen King. And later today will start Wild Rose Pass by Karen Hulene Bartell. I read and write in multiple genres.
