Stella’s college life transforms from sweet to rancid when her boyfriend asks her to do the unthinkable. How did she end up holding her best friend’s future in her hands? Anything she does will trigger the disastrous conclusion. If that isn’t bad enough.

Add in a lunatic minister, a demi-goddess, and a walk through another dimension full of vindictive shrubbery and wildlife. It’s far from the typical freshman year.

GUEST POST
Ouija Boards, Palm Readers, and Tarot Cards

Most people want to know their future. Most hope that revelations will contain romance, wealth, and great success. Other people would be content knowing what things or people to avoid. I’ve had my run-in with palm readers, fortune tellers, and Tarot card turners, and it hasn’t been all bad, which explains my character, Esmeralda, in the Pagan Eyes series.

My childhood neighbor, Donna, owned an Ouija board. On a stormy day, Donna, my oldest sister, and I had gathered around the board with a single candle flickering in the breeze from the window. There was a ritualistic aspect about the whole activity that impressed me. Though not enough for me not to engage in younger sister shenanigans. As usual, the older girls asked for the names of their future husbands. I knew whom my sister liked so I guided the planchette to spell out the name of the boy. The two other girls were very impressed that the spirits were so strong that day. As for me, I never told my older sister I had spelled out Barry’s name. By the way, she didn’t marry him.

A college date with a dark eyed hottie resulted in a nearby trip to a palm reader located near the movie theater. My guy didn’t want to visit the shop because his religion forbade it. I had no issues and pulled him inside. For five dollars, the woman told me I had two men in my life. A dark one, which explained my date, and a blonde one, which caused him to grumble. I wanted to know more about this blonde man. Instead of actually leaving, I ducked behind the foyer curtains and eavesdropped on the next client. She too had a dark and blonde man in her life. What a letdown!

About ten years ago, I saw an ad for a Tarot reader and decided to try it. The skinny, middle-aged man dressed all in black chain-smoked throughout the reading; he was not my idea of a fortuneteller. Besides, he told me bizarre stuff including I’d fall in love again while I was already married. I would move when I had just recently moved. He even said I would go back to school. The man was clueless that I had just finished college.

Less than a year later, I was divorced and living in another state. For my new job, I had to go back to school. Finally, I met and fell in love with my soul mate. Even though I didn’t believe my chain-smoking reader it didn’t stop his predictions from happening.

I’ve concluded that some people do have the ability to read the future while others are just hucksters making a buck while providing positive outcomes that amuse the patron.

About the author:
Rayna Noire is an author and a historian.
The desire to uncover the truth behind the original fear of witches led her to the surprising discovery that people believed in magick in some form up to 150 years ago. A world that believed the impossible could happen and often did must have been amazing. With this in mind, Ms. Noire taps into this dimension, shapes it into stories about Pagan families who really aren’t that different from most people. They do go on the occasional time travel adventures and magick happens.

  5. I do believe in psychics. I've never used or had a tarot card reading. I had an Ouija board when I was in my teens. I don't know if those really work or not. I'd like to read this book based on all this :)
