Review and Giveaway Rewrite Redemption by J.H. Walker

REVIEW

I really liked this book and I’m sure that many of you will like it too.

The book has what a Young Adult SF Fantasy needs: the thrill and uncertainty of the first (true) love, SF elements about we dream and think since we realized the flow of time, adventure and danger in various forms and also some lessons.

As the book description shows, everything revolves around time travel and of the rule which says that any little thing changed in the past may have major repercussions and completely change the future. Although I think the fans (and "connoisseurs") of the phenomenon will appreciate the details and explanations, you those who want more the romance do not worry! Rewrite Redemption does not need a rewrite because the author has dosed all well. Maybe the story does not need to be rewritten, but certainly Constantine (I don’t know if the author had Keanu Reeves from the movie Constantine in mind when she created the character, but I did when I imagined him - in 17 -18 years old version, of course) believes that and he needs to change his past, although at one time it is shown that the change will mean only a replacement of one loss by another.

The main and secondary characters (needless to say that you will love them all!) come with their own story and, incredible as it may seem at one moment, the friendship of three of them will not appear an exaggeration or impossibility.

The relationship between the characters develops normally (is a normal in given circumstances), the pertinent details and relevant explanations benefiting of a powerful binder: their feelings. As a plus, the author successfully avoids enough of the Y.A. clichés.

Regarding the main characters, the author offers both AJ and Constantine’s points of view managing to reveal the depth and strength of their feelings, forming a complete picture of the situation and doubling reader‘s anxiety as the relationship between the two evolves ... or not.

But as I said, Rewrite Redemption has also some adventure, Mrs.Walker introducing the real danger and death in the game. She did it without disrupting the harmony of rhythm, but adding other touches and facets to the portraits of those involved.

The ending requires some concentration, but if you accepted that the travel back in time is possible then you can accept the changes that it can bring, although the consequences just are to follow and, at the end, will remain for us some unknown, predictable ... or not.

PS. I liked how the author brought a tribute and indicated her inspiration for the source of energy used by our heroes. The Rewrite Redemption is one of the most beautiful, delicate, subtle and non obnoxious… environmental messages.

Description:

She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.

She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn’t end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her.

She wants answers.

He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.

Then he moves to her town.
About the author:
J.H. grew up in Central America. She now lives in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies with her photographer husband and many, many books. In addition to her never-ending study of human behavior, she’s a political junkie and a certified tree hugger. Rewrite Redemption is her debut novel.
"I live with my photographer husband in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. I’m surrounded by trees. And I will always remain insanely curious."
